After over six years since Steve Rogers\/Captain America had led the Avengers in their final fight against Thanos in Endgame<\/strong>, it looks like Marvel Studios<\/a> is setting up a new leader who will be guiding the next roster of the Avengers team. Instead of Sam Wilson\u2019s Captain America, it seems like the team will now be led by one of the newest characters in Marvel Cinematic Universe<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Who is the new leader of the MCU\u2019s Avengers?<\/p>\n

During a recent interview with Variety, The Fantastic Four: First Steps<\/a> director Matt Shakman has confirmed the studio\u2019s plans to make Pedro Pascal\u2019s Reed Richards\/Mister Fantastic as the new leader of the Avengers in the upcoming Doomsday and Secret Wars movies. He also admitted that casting Mister Fantastic was the one that challenged him the most, due to the character\u2019s great significance in the future of the MCU.<\/p>\n

\u201cReed was the most challenging role to cast. \u2018He goes from being the nerdy scientist who\u2019s locked away in the lab, to the husband and the father who\u2019d do anything to protect his family, to the guy who\u2019s leading the Avengers,’\u201d he revealed. \u201cI realized that the version we were building had to have all of those elements.\u201d<\/p>\n

Avengers: Doomsday is being directed by Avengers: Endgame filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo from a screenplay written by Stephen McFeely. The latest installment will feature Oscar winner Robert Downey Jr. as he signs on for the role of Victor von Doom\/Doctor Doom. The ensemble cast will also include Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Letitia Wright, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, and Danny Ramirez.<\/p>\n

The sixth installment will also feature the return of X-Men stars Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen\u2018s Magneto, Alan Cumming\u2018s Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn\u2018s Mystique, James Marsden\u2018s Cyclops, and Channing Tatum\u2018s Gambit. Following the movie\u2019s viral casting announcement video, Feige previously confirmed they haven\u2019t really revealed the entire cast yet, teasing more casting announcements in the future.<\/p>\n

At the moment, the Avengers: Doomsday<\/a> is still slated to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, followed by the release of Avengers: Secret Wars<\/a>, on December 17, 2027.<\/p>\n
