Then a protestor ran out onto the course.

As Abrahamsen found the last of the power in his legs to edge the sprint by a wheel’s length, an ASO employee had rushed out to corner and then rugby tackle a man wearing a t-shirt reading ‘Israel out of the Tour’ on it, back over the barriers from whence he came.

The ASO employee was the man ultimately responsible for the finish line area: Stéphane Boury. He stands the closest of anyone to the finish line of a Tour de France stage, along with the contracted security staff, and reacted the quickest to deal with the protestor.

After Boury had served the protestor a rough tackle back over the barriers, he started hitting him with his radio, according to those on the scene.

This post is for paying subscribers only
Subscribe now

Already have an account? Sign in

Did we do a good job with this story?

                    👍Yep
👎Nope

                        Tour de France
News & Racing
Thierry Gouvenou

Tour de France After a protestor ran onto the finale of stage 11, an eyewitness tells us how…

[4104
4230,79,16,15
0":"post-268703","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-cycling","8":"tag-cycling","9":"tag-sports","10":"tag-uk","11":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
