The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed a state pension change which kicks in NEXT MONTH. The DWP<\/a> has confirmed its August 2025 benefit payment dates as thousands are set to get the state pension paid early.<\/p>\n

Thousands of claimants will receive their August payments early due to the summer bank holiday. The next bank holiday 2025 for England and Wales and Northern Ireland is the Summer Bank Holiday on Monday 25 August.<\/p>\n

The next bank holiday in Scotland is also the Summer bank holiday, however this falls on Monday 4 August. It means anyone due to receive benefits or state pension payments on August 25 – the summer bank holiday – will instead be paid on Friday August 22.<\/p>\n

Payments due over the weekend August 23 and 24, will also be issued on August 22, as is standard when payment dates fall on a non-working day. Benefits affected by the bank holiday include Universal Credit<\/a> and the state pension as well as Pension Credit.<\/p>\n

Others affected include HMRC’s Child Benefit, as well as Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Attendance Allowance, Carer\u2019s Allowance and Employment Support Allowance.<\/p>\n

Income Support and Jobseeker\u2019s Allowance completes the list. After August, the next bank holiday to affect DWP payments will be in December. Any payments due on December 25 or 26 will be paid early on December 24.<\/p>\n

The State Pension is designed to give you a regular retirement income from the government, even if you have other income or pensions.<\/p>\n

After you\u2019ve claimed it, it\u2019s usually paid every four weeks, rather than the same date each month. Your State Pension isn\u2019t paid automatically. Here are the steps to claim it:<\/p>\n

You should receive a letter around four months before you reach your State Pension age with an invitation code. If you haven\u2019t received it three months before you turn State Pension age, or you\u2019ve lost it, you can request an invitation code on GOV.UK.<\/p>\n

Use your invitation code to apply, depending on where you live.
