{"id":268787,"date":"2025-07-17T08:00:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-17T08:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/268787\/"},"modified":"2025-07-17T08:00:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T08:00:10","slug":"leeds-now-in-talks-to-sign-26m-forward-who-is-better-than-cody-gakpo-tottenham-also-interested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/268787\/","title":{"rendered":"Leeds now in talks to sign \u00a326m forward who is \u2018better\u2019 than Cody Gakpo, Tottenham also interested"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Just like fellow promoted side Sunderland, Leeds United are starting to make some serious moves in the transfer market.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Manager Daniel Farke has previously been unsuccessful in terms of surviving in the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/topic\/leeds-united\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leeds<\/a> seem determined to give the former Norwich City boss an excellent opportunity to do so this time around \u2014 the 69ers are showing plenty of ambition in the transfer market.<\/p>\n<p>But to complement the signings of Jaka Bijol and Gabriel Gudmundsson, Leeds will also need to add some firepower up top.<\/p>\n<p>And it would seem as if Leeds have now identified a winger who could potentially mirror Raphinha\u2019s success at Elland Road.<\/p>\n<p>Leeds have begun talks to sign Igor Paixao from Feyenoord<\/p>\n<p>According to journalist Graham Smyth, Leeds are now targeting an ambitious move to sign Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao.<\/p>\n<p>25-year-old Paixao joined the Dutch side from Brazilian football back in 2022 and has made a huge impact in the Eredivisie.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2198570460-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Igot Paixao playing for Feyenoord in the Champions League.\" class=\"wp-image-919715\" \/>Photo by Rene Nijhuis\/MB Media\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/leeds-target-involved-in-his-clubs-11-0-friendly-win-after-personal-terms-agreed-with-whites\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leeds target involved in his club\u2019s 11-0 friendly win after personal terms agreed with Whites<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In 36 league games last season, Paixao scored 16 goals and provided 14 assists, a remarkable tally for a left winger.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, Smyth has now shared on X that Leeds have been in talks with Paixao\u2019s representatives, trying to sell a move to Elland Road.<\/p>\n<p>Leeds presented their project to Paixao\u2019s camp this week, and they\u2019ll hope that the Brazilian is tempted by a chance in the Premier League.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Feyenoord&#8217;s Brazilian winger Igor Paix\u00e3o is one of the left wingers whose representatives Leeds United have spoken to about a possible transfer move. <\/p>\n<p>Understand they presented the project to his camp this week. <\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s reportedly also a target for Marseille.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/lufc?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#lufc<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Graham Smyth (@GrahamSmyth) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GrahamSmyth\/status\/1945566812071944569?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">July 16, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>View Tweet<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/tottenham-now-interested-in-signing-winger-with-more-goals-and-assists-than-dejan-kulusevski-and-heung-min-son\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tottenham have also shown interest in Paixao<\/a> themselves in recent months, a player who would certainly have a lot of options if he were to become available.<\/p>\n<p>Igor Paixao is \u2018better\u2019 than Cody Gakpo<\/p>\n<p>Of course, it shouldn\u2019t be forgotten that now Liverpool boss Arne Slot was hugely responsible for Paixao\u2019s emergence at Feyenoord.<\/p>\n<p>The Brazilian won the Dutch league under Slot in 2022\/23, a manager who certainly knows how to get the best out of his wingers.<\/p>\n<p>And perhaps slightly oddly, former Feyenoord manager Rob Jacobs actually claimed that Paixao was better than Cody Gakpo earlier this year when explaining why Liverpool should make a move for the 25-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rijnmond.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Rijnmnd<\/a>, Jacobs said: \u201cI\u2019ll go for Paixao. I really think he makes Liverpool stronger. Arne Slot should also enjoy his development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGakpo is of course also a fantastic player and is doing well at Liverpool, but I think Paix\u00e3o is better.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt wouldn\u2019t surprise me if Liverpool would report to Feyenoord. Hey, \u20ac40m or \u20ac50m?
