{"id":268966,"date":"2025-07-17T09:35:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-17T09:35:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/268966\/"},"modified":"2025-07-17T09:35:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T09:35:12","slug":"top-charity-award-for-solihulls-chris-spriggs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/268966\/","title":{"rendered":"Top charity award for Solihull\u2019s Chris Spriggs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> AWARDS PRESENTATION Kirsty Bushell, SSAFA vice president (left) with Chris Spriggs (Image: \u00a9SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity by Sam Howson of Mascot Films) <\/p>\n<p>The voluntary work of Chris Spriggs, secretary of the Solihull branch of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity has been recognised with the Sir James Gildea Global Award for her tireless efforts and transformative leadership, which have profoundly impacted the lives of countless clients and their families.<\/p>\n<p>SSAFA\u2019s Sir James Gildea Awards were created to recognise the staff \u2013 voluntary and paid \u2013 for their exceptional contributions and commitment to SSAFA\u2019s activities and values. The awards were presented at SSAFA\u2019s Annual Members\u2019 Meeting in London at the Victory Services Club earlier this month by Kirsty Bushell, one of SSAFA\u2019s vice presidents.<\/p>\n<p>Chris, who has 20 years\u2019 experience with SSAFA under her belt, was formerly a chief inspector with West Midlands Police. Her father served in the RAF during the Second World War, but, like so many of that era, spoke little of his wartime experiences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only thing he told us,\u201d begins Chris, \u201cwere the lovely apples they had during his training in Canada. However, I did feel that the Armed Forces deserved our respect, and was delighted to be able to help in a small way by joining SSAFA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her vast experience is reflected in the citation for the award and includes: \u201cChris has exemplified the spirit and ethos of SSAFA by fostering a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and unwavering commitment to supporting beneficiaries. Her work revolves around one core mission: to serve those in need with compassion, professionalism, and empathy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chris says: \u201cI\u2019ve met some wonderful people throughout my service with SSAFA, both volunteers and clients, as well as coped with some challenging situations. I currently enjoy helping my fellow volunteers to achieve to their potential, and am blown away by the honour, and the respect shown to me by my peers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All at SSAFA send Chris their heartfelt congratulations on receiving the Sir James Gildea Global Award.
