{"id":269,"date":"2025-04-01T03:16:12","date_gmt":"2025-04-01T03:16:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/269\/"},"modified":"2025-04-01T03:16:12","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T03:16:12","slug":"popular-burger-joint-announces-difficult-closure-of-food-hall-site-after-less-than-a-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/269\/","title":{"rendered":"Popular burger joint announces &#8216;difficult&#8217; closure of food hall site after less than a year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8216;We greatly appreciated your custom&#8217;<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/0_AMR_MEN_310325_WB.jpg\" alt=\"What's Your Beef has closed one of its burger stalls with immediate effect\" loading=\"eager\"   fetchpriority=\"high\"\/>What&#8217;s Your Beef has closed one of its burger stalls with immediate effect(Image: What&#8217;s Your Beef)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" publication=\"men\">A popular <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l tab-focus\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/burgers\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">burger<\/a> joint has announced it has closed one of its locations at a Greater Manchester food hall less than a year after opening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" publication=\"men\">What\u2019s Your Beef, which sells gourmet burgers using \u2018exceptional\u2019 Lancashire beef at a number of locations across the city-region and beyond, has announced it has closed its stall at <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l tab-focus\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/bolton\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bolton<\/a> Food Hall with immediate effect.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" publication=\"men\">The food hall, situated next to Bolton Market, only opened its doors in June last year with What\u2019s Your Beef being one of its original traders, alongside a host of other local and independent eateries. <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l tab-focus\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/greater-manchester-town-gets-first-29353834\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">The food hall formed part of a huge \u00a35.5m transformation<\/a> of Bolton town centre by Bolton Council.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" publication=\"men\">The owners of What&#8217;s Your Beef said the decision had been made due to a number of \u2018unfavourable conditions\u2019, including the higher cost of sourcing ingredients and the pending National Insurance (NI) increases, which will officially come into effect on April 6.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" publication=\"men\">Announced in the Autumn Budget, the Government said that employers will face a National NI rate increase from 13.8% to 15%, as well as a lower threshold for NI payments, which will decrease from \u00a39,100 to \u00a35,000. <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l tab-focus\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/we-still-holding-out-little-31269918\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Hospitality bosses have previously said that<\/a> business owners were &#8216;facing a really big headwind of costs&#8217; following the changes.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/0_Snapper-About-Town-at-Magic-Rock-Tap.jpg\" alt=\"What's Your Beef founders Eddie Pope and Neil Standring, pictured in 2020\" loading=\"lazy\"   fetchpriority=\"low\"\/>What&#8217;s Your Beef founders Eddie Pope and Neil Standring, pictured in 2020(Image: Dave Cowan &#8211; Staff)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" publication=\"men\">Posting on Instagram on Monday afternoon (March 31), What&#8217;s Your Beef owners said: \u201cUnfortunately, WYB (What\u2019s Your Beef) Bolton is no longer trading at Bolton Market Food Hall, from today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" publication=\"men\">\u201cSadly, due to unfavourable conditions like the rising cost of raw ingredients, utility charges and pending NI increases led us to this very difficult decision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" publication=\"men\">\u201cWe would like to thank Bolton Council for giving us this opportunity who have supported us through this very difficult period. Always got big respect for you.\u201d One other said: \u201cSuch a sad, but incredibly common, state of affairs.
