CEO Dr Pendram Kordrostami explained: &#8220;Vegetable broth appeared in 27 different recipes across various culinary traditions. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The versatile ingredient forms the base of many plant-forward meals consumed in areas where people live longer, and is rich in nutrients, low in calories, and supports healthy digestion.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"39c50\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"2e6d6d2c4bd449d1a59fd1f8572bf8a5\" data-rm-shortcode-name=\"rebelmouse-image\" class=\"rm-shortcode rm-lazyloadable-image \" lazy-loadable=\"true\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20918%20611'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-runner-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/vegetables-and-soup-on-table.png\" width=\"918\" height=\"611\" alt=\"Vegetables and soup on table\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Plant-based foods dominated the list, with vegetable broth coming up top <\/p>\n<p>GETTY<\/p>\n<p>Top 10 foods for a longer life<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Vegetable broth<\/li>\n<li>Courgette<\/li>\n<li>Brown rice<\/li>\n<li>Olive oil<\/li>\n<li>Onion<\/li>\n<li>Carrot<\/li>\n<li>Corn<\/li>\n<li>Tomato<\/li>\n<li>Mint<\/li>\n<li>Red pepper flakes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Olive oil ranked highly in the list and it has been linked with improving heart health.  Dr Kordrostami continued: \u201cOlive oil, which forms the foundation of Mediterranean cuisine long associated with heart health, ranked fourth with 71.09 points (out of 100). <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Interestingly, animal products are completely absent from the top foods, as no meat or dairy products appear in the top ingredients favoured by centenarian populations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Adding more plant-based foods into your diet could boost your health thanks to their high content of vitamins, healthy fats and\/or fibre. A study published in JAMA Internal Medicine backed this up. <\/p>\n<p>It found individuals who ate more plant-based foods had a lower risk of dying from all causes. Those who followed a plant-based diet high in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts and legumes had up to a 25 per cent reduced risk of mortality compared to those who did not.<\/p>\n<p> Dr Kordrostami continued: \u201cPlant-based diets continue to gain support as they are typically rich in fibre and antioxidants, and are linked to lower inflammation, improved gut health, and a reduced risk of disease.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"2ec91\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"088e59f4345b3decc3ae5a4c148f4a08\" data-rm-shortcode-name=\"rebelmouse-image\" class=\"rm-shortcode rm-lazyloadable-image \" lazy-loadable=\"true\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%204000%202667'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-runner-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/olive-oil-on-spoon.jpg\" width=\"4000\" height=\"2667\" alt=\"Olive oil on spoon\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Olive oil was recommended <\/p>\n<p>GETTY<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This will have an obvious effect on longevity, as backed by this study.
