David Dastmalchian<\/a> is returning to the graphic novel world.<\/p>\n PEOPLE can exclusively announce that the actor, 49, will publish a new graphic novel entitled Through<\/a> through publisher Z2. The book features illustrations by artist Catt Staggs, colors by DC Alonso and a cover designed by David Mack.<\/p>\n Through tells the story of Alix, a young woman \u201cdriven by a compulsive need to control the world around her,\u201d per the book\u2019s synopsis. In 2019, he debuted his Count Crowley<\/a> series with Dark Horse Comics, and has also appeared in many screen adaptations of comic books, including The Suicide Squad<\/a>, Ant-Man and the Wasp <\/a>and The Flash<\/a>.<\/p>\n His latest project, however, holds a personal meaning for the Late Night with the Devil<\/a> star.\n<\/p>\n \u201cThrough is a story inspired by an idea that a dear friend and I hatched when I was living in Chicago and fascinated by outsider artists like Henry Darger,\u201d Dastmalchian says in a statement shared with PEOPLE.\n<\/p>\n \u201cOver the years, the story evolved into a labyrinthine mystery that overlapped with my own ongoing struggle for mental wellness.\u201d\n<\/p>\n David Dastmalchian.<\/p>\n Isaac Sterling<\/p>\n \u201cAs I dove into the challenging but healing therapeutic work of understanding the myriad parts of myself, this story began to flourish,\u201d he continues. \u201cWhile fighting for my life, Through became the book I needed to write and the most important tale I\u2019ve ever attempted to tell.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Staggs also notes that \u201cDavid’s wonderful story makes this journey even more exciting, and I look forward to everyone reading it.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
