{"id":269595,"date":"2025-07-17T15:04:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-17T15:04:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/269595\/"},"modified":"2025-07-17T15:04:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T15:04:11","slug":"1100-wightfibre-customers-experience-internet-outage-due-to-equipment-failure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/269595\/","title":{"rendered":"1,100 WightFibre customers experience Internet outage due to equipment failure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Customers of <a href=\"https:\/\/onthewight.com\/about\/wightfibre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WightFibre<\/a> in Ventnor, Godshill and Wroxall were without an Internet connection this morning (Thursday) for more than an hour.<\/p>\n<p>WightFibre say the fault was caused by a \u201cfaulty uninterruptible power supply unit in the Ventnor exchange\u201d. This was replaced and service to affected customers is now restored.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When OnTheWight asked how many customers were affected, a spokesperson for WightFibre replied,<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThere are only 1,100 customers connected on that exchange, so very little compared to the nearly 26,000 total customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The loss of service caused quite an impact for customers such as <a href=\"https:\/\/onthewight.com\/about\/ventnor-exchange\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ventnor Exchange<\/a>, who are in the process of organising the ten-day <a href=\"https:\/\/onthewight.com\/about\/ventnor-fringe-festival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ventnor Fringe Festival<\/a> that starts tomorrow (Friday), as well as businesses who rely on their fibre connection for taking card payments. <\/p>\n<p>The WightFibre spokesperson went on to say,<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cIt was also identified and restored in just over an hour. Most of that time was to take the replacement equipment from Cowes to Ventnor.
