Much of the country has been issued a 21-hour yellow weather warning<\/p>\n

A yellow weather warning<\/a> has been issued for Greater Manchester<\/a>, with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms threatening to dampen the spirits of those attending the last two night’s of Oasis’<\/a> homecoming at Heaton Park<\/a> this weekend.<\/p>\n

The Met Office<\/a> announced the alert on Thursday morning, and said it will come into effect at 9pm on Friday evening.<\/p>\n

They have advised people across England that areas of heavy, thundery rain may lead to disruption to transport<\/a> and travel<\/a> from late Friday through much of Saturday.<\/p>\n

Torrential downpours are expected to bring 20-30 mm in less than an hour in many places, with 60-90 mm in less than three hours possible in other areas.<\/p>\n

Whilst rain will clear in parts by early Saturday afternoon, further thunderstorms are likely to develop over the weekend with lightning, gusty winds and large hail also likely.<\/p>\n

According to the national weather service’s rainfall radar map<\/a>, heavy rain will hit Manchester at around 4am on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

The wet conditions will continue throughout the early part of the day, getting much heavier at around 9am.<\/p>\n

That period of torrential rain will begin to subside in the mid afternoon, with clear skies currently forecast for the rest of the evening.<\/p>\n

More thundery conditions are expected on Sunday morning, with up to 30mph winds<\/a> predicted around lunchtime.<\/p>\n

After a period of calm from around 1pm on Sunday afternoon, the rain and wind looks set to start up again shortly after 6pm.<\/p>\n

So, those lucky enough to have tickets to Saturday night’s Oasis concert should experience a dry evening, while anyone attending the final Manchester show on Sunday night could be in line for a washout.<\/p>\n
