Sheffield Wednesday forward Josh Windass has won his appeal over handing in his notice at the club, sources have told Football Insider<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It is understood that the player will officially become a free agent early next month, alerting a host of clubs to his availability following a superb personal campaign in the Championship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old notched 13 goals and five assists in 44 appearances as the Owls secured a top-half finish in the second tier of English football, despite all of the distractions off the pitch.<\/p>\n

Dejphon Chansiri has caused plenty of issues for Wednesday<\/a>, with the under-pressure manager failing to meet his wage demands for the past two months at Hillsborough.<\/p>\n

Rangers linked with Josh Windass return<\/strong><\/p>\n

Due to the ongoing situation, players who have not received payment since April are allowed to leave on a free transfer if they have handed in their 15-day notice.<\/p>\n

That appears to be the case for Windass, who, despite having one year left, has experienced spells with Accrington Stanley, Rangers<\/a>, Wigan Athletic, and the Owls across the entirety of his career.<\/p>\n

Paul Robinson told Football Insider <\/strong>that Rangers are well-placed to sign Windass<\/a>, though the veteran playmaker is likely to receive a lot of attention now that he is available for free.<\/p>\n

Pol Valentin and Michael Ihiekwe have both left on free transfers, with Anthony Musuba joining Samsunspor, and Djeidi Gassama<\/a> arriving at Ibrox on a \u00a32.2million deal [Sky Sports<\/a>].<\/p>\n

The Owls could be in serious trouble if the current trend of exits continue at Hillsbrough, with the squad only getting smaller and smaller ahead of the 2025\/26 campaign.<\/p>\n

Of course, with the ongoing chaos, the club had been put under multiple embargoes that have now been lifted due to player sales, but that still leaves the club in a precarious position.<\/p>\n

Danny Rohl\u2019s future at Hillsborough also remains uncertain<\/a>, having not turned up at the beginning of pre-season, but the German is currently in charge for now.<\/p>\n

Losing Windass will just be yet another blow for Wednesday, and one of Chansiri\u2019s making, with players and staff alike not being paid on time, leaving supporters extremely concerned and angry.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
