Manchester City have made their fifth signing of the summer after completing a deal for Sverre Nypan.<\/p>\n

Manchester City have completed the signing of highly-rated Norwegian teenager Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg for a fee of \u00a312.5millon.<\/p>\n

The 18-year-old is joining City after they fought off a number of European clubs to sign the midfielder. The deal doesn\u2019t include any add-ons or sell-on clauses.<\/p>\n

Nypan is expected to go out on loan for the 2025\/26 season but no deal has been yet been lined up. As things stand he is expected to return for pre-season training with Pep Guardiola<\/a>\u2019s first team on Monday, July 28.<\/p>\n

Director of football Hugo Viana said Nypan, who attended a game at the Etihad earlier this season, had been on the club\u2019s radar for a while and was considered an exciting prospect for the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cSverre is an exciting young player that the club has been monitoring for quite some time now,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe feel that he already has numerous standout qualities but that at only 18 years of age, he is only going to continue to improve.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe he will be an important asset for Manchester City<\/a> in the years to come and we will support him every step of the way in his development.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nypan felt the chance to be coached by Pep Guardiola was too good an opportunity to turn down as he weighted up his options.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am incredibly happy and proud to have joined Manchester City,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s a dream for any young footballer to become part of this club and to join such a group of world class talent.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am still very young with a lot to learn but the chance to be coached by Pep Guardiola, the best manager in the world, will only help me to become a better player.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is already a special connection between Norway and Manchester City through Erling Haaland and Oscar Bobb, and I am very proud to have become the latest Norwegian player to have joined the club.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nypan made his first-team debut for Rosenborg as a 15-year-old and has gone to make 70 appearances for the Norwegian giants, scoring 14 goals and contributing 11 assists. He has largely been used as a central midfielder but can also play further forward.<\/p>\n
