Prince Harry<\/a> has always gone out of his way to keep the memory of his mother, the late Princess Diana<\/a>, alive. This includes continuing her humanitarian work, which Harry recently did by setting out on a tour of Angola<\/a> to recreate the walk that Princess Diana took across an Angola minefield in 1997. This is not the first time Harry has done this, as he previously did it in 2019 and 2024.<\/p>\n

Harry has previously called continuing his mother\u2019s work in the region a \u201cresponsibility\u201d he takes seriously, and this trip to Angola to raise awareness for Angola\u2019s war recovery with the Halo Trust proves it. \u201cChildren should never have to live in fear of playing outside or walking to school,\u201d he said<\/a>, regarding the continuing threat of mines to the civilian population. The Halo Trust has cleared 120,000 landmines in Angola that were left over from years of civil war.<\/p>\n

James Cowan, the Halo Trust\u2019s chief executive, said: \u201cWe will continue our work in solidarity with the Angolan people until every last mine is cleared.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Harry undertook this trip, which included a moving tribute to his mother, one person was conspicuously missing: his wife, Meghan Markle<\/a>. This is particularly noticeable considering it comes after reports indicated Harry wasn\u2019t very pleased that his wife, As Ever, brand released their first ros\u00e9 on July 1<\/a>, which is also Princess Diana\u2019s birthday.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe told her, \u2018Please, not on Mummy\u2019s birthday,\u2019\u201d Rob Shuter<\/a> reported. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t about business \u2014 it was about respect.\u201d But Markle, reportedly, did not budge. \u201cHe\u2019s devastated,\u201d a source confirmed to the gossip Substack. \u201cThat day means everything to him. To see it turned into a PR push hurts.\u201d<\/p>\n

So was this part of the reason Meghan Markle<\/a> wasn\u2019t present in Angola? According to the\u00a0Daily Mail<\/a>, it had nothing to do with it. Instead, ongoing security concerns were the reason Prince Harry<\/a> visited Angola by himself. \u201cThe Duke won\u2019t let his wife go to England over security concerns, so there was no chance he\u2019d allow her to go to Angola to walk across landmines,\u201d a source said.<\/p>\n

And though his wife and kids did not join him on this Princess Diana tribute, Harry previously told\u00a0The Telegraph<\/a>\u00a0that Prince Archie asked not just about his work in Angola, but requested to see footage of\u00a0Princess Diana<\/a>\u2019s walk. \u201cArchie was asking about landmines, so I was talking about how some of these guys were blown up,\u201d Harry told the outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201cInterestingly, it gave me a chance to talk about my mum, his grandma, which I didn\u2019t even really consider, so that became the outcome of the story for him,\u201d he added, sharing that Archie \u201cwanted to see videos and photographs of his Grandma Diana out doing her thing for landmines all those years ago. It produced a very interesting conversation between me and him, different to what I thought it would be.\u201d<\/p>\n
