Sam Burgess welcomed a special guest to Warrington Wolves’ training facilities on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\"FormerFormer England and Catalans Dragons boss Steve McNamara was at Warrington Wolves on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Sam Burgess welcomed ex-England head coach and former mentor Steve McNamara to Warrington Wolves\u2019 training facilities on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The pair share a long and storied history, with McNamara handing Burgess his Super League debut in 2006 at Bradford Bulls, launching one of rugby league\u2019s most iconic careers. They also worked together on the international stage, including during the 2013 Rugby League World Cup on home soil.<\/p>\n

McNamara, who left his role at Catalans Dragons in May, had his departure confirmed by the Perpignan-based club a month later<\/a>, with Joel Tomkins stepping in as interim head coach.<\/p>\n

While McNamara’s next move is yet to be confirmed, he spent the morning with Burgess as the Wolves prepare to take on Castleford Tigers in Super League Round 19. Meanwhile, McNamara\u2019s son, Ben, is expected to take to the field for Leigh\u2019s clash with St Helens at the Totally Wicked Stadium tonight.<\/p>\n

\u201cMe and Steve have got a great relationship – he coached me at under-20s, first-team, and England for a number of years,\u201d Burgess said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was very good in my formative years as a young man. We\u2019ve got a good relationship, and his son is playing tonight at Leigh. So he wanted to come in, have a look around and see what we\u2019re doing.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s also a good guy to bounce ideas off. He\u2019s a very intelligent coach. I\u2019ve got a lot of respect for him, so it was good to catch up.\u201d<\/p>\n
