The dates of Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a> visit to Scotland have been confirmed by the White House, with the US president set to visit both Turnberry and Aberdeen.<\/p>\n

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the US president will visit between July 25 to 29, with Trump set to meet Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer<\/a> on the trip.<\/p>\n

First Minister John Swinney has also confirmed he will have a meeting with Mr Trump during the visit, although no details have been released.<\/p>\n

Ms Leavitt said: \u201cPresident Trump<\/a> will travel to Scotland, where he will visit both Turnberry and Aberdeen from July 25 to July 29.<\/p>\n

“During the visit, President Trump will meet again with Prime Minister Starmer to refine the great trade deal that was brokered between the United States and the United Kingdom.”<\/p>\n

Trump<\/a> will return the UK in September for an official state visit, where he will meet the King at Windsor Castle.<\/p>\n

The upcoming visit will mark the president’s first trip to Scotland since 2023, when he broke ground on a new 18-hole golf course dedicated to his Isle of Lewis-born mother Mary at his resort in Menie, Aberdeenshire.<\/p>\n

It is unclear whether Trump will visit the course, which has since been renamed the “New Course,” during his stay. He has owned Trump Turnberry<\/a> in South Ayrshire since 2014.<\/p>\n

Trump said earlier this week: \u201cWe\u2019re going to be meeting with the British Prime Minister, very respectful, and we are going to have a meeting with him, probably in Aberdeen, and we\u2019re going to do a lot of different things.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to also refine the trade deal that we\u2019ve made. So we\u2019ll be meeting mostly [\u2026] at probably one of my properties, or maybe not, depending on what happens, but we\u2019ll be in Aberdeen, in Scotland, meeting with the Prime Minister.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ahead of his visit, Trump described Britain as a \u201cgreat place\u201d which is a \u201ctrue ally\u201d of the US. He also described Aberdeen as the \u201coil capital\u201d and said \u201cthey should get rid of the windmills and bring back the oil\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ms Leavitt told a press briefing in Washington DC the meeting with Starmer \u2013 due to take place in Aberdeen<\/a> \u2013 would “refine the great trade deal that was brokered between the United States and the United Kingdom.”<\/p>\n

She made no mention of the scheduled meeting with Swinney, which the Scottish government previously said would be “an opportunity to promote the interests of Scotland”.<\/p>\n

Police Scotland confirmed it was preparing for a presidential visit earlier this month. The Scottish Government<\/a> said it had been working with the national force to put plans in place, with thousands of officers likely to be deployed as part of the security operation.<\/p>\n

Trump’s last visit as president, in July 2018, prompted large-scale protests in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The President\u2019s private visit comes ahead of a state visit that will follow between September 17 and 19.
