{"id":270824,"date":"2025-07-18T01:50:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-18T01:50:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/270824\/"},"modified":"2025-07-18T01:50:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-18T01:50:09","slug":"trump-diagnosed-with-chronic-venous-insufficiency-after-leg-swelling-donald-trump-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/270824\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump diagnosed with \u2018chronic venous insufficiency\u2019 after leg swelling | Donald Trump News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__subhead\">White House says Trump\u2019s exam revealed a \u2018benign and common condition\u2019, no serious underlying issues found.<\/p>\n<p>United States President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with \u201cchronic venous insufficiency\u201d after he was examined for leg swelling and bruising on his hands, according to the White House.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to reporters on Thursday, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt called the malady a \u201cbenign and common condition\u201d in which damaged veins prevent blood from flowing properly.<\/p>\n<p>Reading a letter from Trump\u2019s physician, Leavitt added that the condition has higher rates \u201cin individuals over the age of 70\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The 79-year-old Trump is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/1\/20\/how-does-trumps-age-at-inauguration-compare-to-other-presidents\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">oldest person<\/a> in US history to assume the presidency and made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2024\/2\/16\/thorny-question-of-presidential-age-limit-grows-in-us-political-discourse\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">questions<\/a> over former President Joe Biden\u2019s age a defining issue in the 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p>Biden, who is three years Trump\u2019s senior, later dropped out of the race amid pressure from his own party, handing the Democratic candidacy to former Vice President Kamala Harris, who lost to Trump months later. Nevertheless, the president has continued to attack Biden\u2019s age and mental fitness.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-arc-image-770 wp-image-3843746\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/AP25198683478929-1752785441.jpg\" alt=\"Trump hands\" fetchpriority=\"low\"\/>Apparent bruising is seen on Trump\u2019s hand at the White House in Washington, DC [Alex Brandon\/AP Photo]<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, Leavitt said there was \u201cno evidence\u201d of more serious issues like \u201cdeep vein thrombosis or arterial disease\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She said all Trump\u2019s test results \u201cwere within normal limits\u201d and he had \u201cnormal cardiac structure and function, no signs of heart failure, renal impairment or systemic illness\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson also fielded questions over bruises on Trump\u2019s hand, which had stoked online speculation over his health.<\/p>\n<p>Leavitt said the bruises were \u201cconsistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin, which is taken as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>While not legally required, it has become common practice for US presidents to release annual physicals and details of their health.<\/p>\n<p>During his 2015 campaign, Trump\u2019s personal doctor, Harold Bornstein, released a letter saying he could \u201cstate unequivocally\u201d that Trump \u201cwill be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Bornstein later told CNN Trump had dictated the hyperbole-laced note.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"White House says Trump\u2019s exam revealed a \u2018benign and common condition\u2019, no serious underlying issues found.
