A new 30-bedroom boutique hotel in the centre of a Co Londonderry town has been approved by Causeway Coast and Glens Council.<\/p>\n
The development at 10,12 and 12a Main Street in Limavady will also see the construction of 26 \u201csocial residential units,\u201d and the demolition of existing buildings.<\/p>\n
The plans were submitted by the firm 10 Main Street Limited, a real business set up in June last year. <\/p>\n
The buildings on Main Street are in a dilapidated state, with the plan proposing to replace them with three red brick hotel buildings.<\/p>\n
The design and access statement submitted with the application said: \u201cThe site consists of a number of vacant and dilapidated retail units with empty residential apartments above that face onto Main Street with three ancillary buildings in various states of disrepair and a walled garden to the rear.\u201d<\/p>\n

The application describes the proposed development as hotel and restaurant accommodation and the construction of two smaller residential blocks to the back including access, car parking, cycle bays, landscaping, bin storage and all associated site works.<\/p>\n
It adds: \u201cThe proposed development offers the opportunity of rejuvenate an unsightly and vacant area of Main Street.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe provision of a high quality small scale hotel accommodation within the town centre, something missing at present, together with a restaurant and residential units\/residents will be of significant benefit to Limavady.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis significant investment within Limavady will attract visitors and local residents into the town centre, bringing with them increased activity.\u201d<\/p>\n
In designing the new hotel, the architects say they will \u201creference the adjoining four-storey terrace\u201d.<\/p>\n
