{"id":271413,"date":"2025-07-18T07:07:13","date_gmt":"2025-07-18T07:07:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/271413\/"},"modified":"2025-07-18T07:07:13","modified_gmt":"2025-07-18T07:07:13","slug":"croydon-woman-in-final-to-be-named-ms-great-britain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/271413\/","title":{"rendered":"Croydon woman in final to be named Ms Great Britain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  In 2016, 26-year-old Emma King took home the title of Miss British Beauty Curve.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>(Image: Emma King)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Now, almost 10 years later, the Croydon social media manager is back in the spotlight as a finalist for Ms Great Britain 2025, hoping to use her platform to inspire, empower, and make a real difference in her community.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The now 35-year-old told Your Local Guardian: \u201cI\u2019ve grown up in Croydon my whole life, and I trained as an actress, and fell into modelling at the same time, and that\u2019s how I found pageantry.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cI entered my first pageant when I was 25 and came first runner up.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThe following year, I reapplied and was named Miss British Beauty Curve.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThe year after that, I went in for Miss International and landed first runner up for that too.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>(Image: Emma King)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  After three years of pageantry, Emma took a break.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She entered digital marketing, had a baby, and realised that pageantry was something she was truly passionate about.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She added: \u201cI got a lot out of pageantry; it was very empowering.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cYou make amazing friends, and I just knew that I wanted to do another pageant, but I just didn\u2019t know when.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cBut I feel like now\u2019s the perfect time, because of the job that I do.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Emma is being sponsored by\u00a0Scaramanga Marketing and Brid\u2019s Tanning and Beauty.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  On top of pageantry, Emma is passionate about fundraising and supporting others.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cMy love for fundraising and helping charities sometimes doesn\u2019t get a light shone on them,\u201d she said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cFor instance, endometriosis is something that I suffer from, and I wanted to support the charity.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;I\u2019m also running a 10k on July 19 for cancer research, and I chose this charity because many of my family members are battling different types of cancer, and it\u2019s also one of the main charities supported by the pageant.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThey even have a special award for the contestant who raises the most or brings the most exposure to charities.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Emma\u2019s passion for fundraising extends beyond cancer research.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She\u2019s also a spokesperson for her employer\u2019s support program for women dealing with gynaecological issues, inspired by her own experience with endometriosis.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  To qualify for the pageant, Emma submitted a series of videos and a detailed written application outlining her passions, motivations, and what she would bring to the role if she won.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She explained: &#8220;I had to film a formal interview video, fill out a long application about why I\u2019m doing this, and then record another video to show my personality and how I present myself.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Once through to the finals, contestants take part in multiple rounds during the event itself, including an opening round, swimwear, and evening wear.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  But there are also optional side awards, such as Most Photogenic, Best in Interview, and a Charity Award for those who raise the most or bring the most exposure to their chosen causes.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Emma says one of her goals is to win Best in Interview.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Emma said: &#8220;If I get that, I\u2019ve got a really good chance of winning.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cYou\u2019ve got to be able to present yourself, speak well, and handle being in front of cameras and photographers. You\u2019re thrown into everything.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She\u2019s also aiming for the Appearances Award, which rewards contestants who go the extra mile to get involved in their communities and raise their profiles.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She added: &#8220;I\u2019m putting myself out there quite a lot, by getting into the paper, attending events, and just really shouting about what I\u2019m doing.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;If you just enter and don\u2019t do anything, you won\u2019t get anywhere.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cIt\u2019s not just about being beautiful.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThere\u2019s so much more behind it.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The winners will be crowned at the grand final on October 17 at The Athena in Leicester.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"In 2016, 26-year-old Emma King took home the title of Miss British Beauty Curve.
