“Enter the loop…” Can you find your way out of a Japanese train station? Umbrella Entertainment down in Australia is the first to release an official English language trailer for the Japanese film Exit 8<\/strong>, a time loop horror thriller from filmmaker Genki Kawamura<\/strong>. This premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in the Midnight section \u2013 somehow I completely missed it! A man gets lost in an underground passage. He follows the “guide” through the passage, but one after another, strange things happen to him. Is this space real? Or an illusion? Will the man be able to escape? This is based on a video game (it’s on Steam<\/a>), which is obvious because the trailer has a game vibe, and it reminds me of “Severance”. The rules of his quest are simple: do not overlook anything out of the ordinary. If you discover an anomaly, turn back immediately. If you don’t, carry on. Then leave from Exit 8. But even a single oversight will send him back to the beginning. Will he ever reach his goal and escape the infinite corridor? This stars Kazunari Ninomiya<\/strong> and Yamato Kochi<\/strong>. I’m a big fan of twisted time loop films like this! Goes right on my watchlist<\/a> – need to catch up with it soon.<\/p>\n

Exit 8, also known as The Exit 8 or 8\u756a\u51fa\u53e3 in Japanese, is directed by Japanese producer \/ filmmaker Genki Kawamura<\/strong><\/a>, director of the film A Hundred Flowers previously, and a producer on the anime films Mirai, Belle, Bubble, Suzume, and The Colors Within. The screenplay is written by Genki Kawamura and Hirase Kentaro. Based on the video game made by Kotake Create. Produced by Yoshihiro Furusawa, Minami Ichikawa, Taichi It\u00f4, Taichi Ueda, Kenji Yamada, Genki Kawamura. This first premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in the Midnight section and it opens first in Japanese this August. No final US release date is set – stay tuned.
