Wednesday fans were dealt another huge blow this summer after watching Smith and Windass leave, two players who scored 20 Championship goals between them in 2024\/25. <\/p>\n

An exit was always mooted for Windass<\/a>, with Dejphon Chansiri\u2019s failure to pay the players on time leading to unrest among the squad. <\/p>\n

So, after an incredible five years in Wednesday colours, the former Rangers attacker is on the lookout for his next challenge. <\/p>\n

But whilst that will fill the 31-year-old with excitement, Windass is sad about leaving S6, making his feelings known in a heartfelt post on Instagram. <\/p>\n

He wrote: \u201cWow. Five and a half seasons at this incredible football club, I can\u2019t explain just how much I have enjoyed playing for this club, representing the badge and the people of Sheffield. <\/p>\n

\u201cTo the staff that have worked with me behind the scenes, to the players, and to the supporters \u2013 I can not thank you enough for the love and support you have given me during the time I have been here.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can categorically tell you without any hesitation that I have given 100% in every single day in training session and at every game. <\/p>\n

\u201cMy goal is to always give supporters moments to remember when they go home from a game, and hopefully that is what I have done and I hope you remember me that way. I will never ever forget Sheffield Wednesday and for sure I\u2019ll be a fan for life. Thank you again and hopefully I\u2019ll see you again soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the replies, there was no surprise to see Sheffield Wednesday legend Barry Bannan issue his heartfelt response to the news, writing: \u201cWhat a player and guy u will be missed a friend forever,\u201d accompanied by the sad face and love heart emojis. <\/p>\n
