Liverpool are agreeing a deal with the fourth member of their squad who was running out of contract at the end of this season, with goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros poised to continue his career at Anfield.<\/p>\n

Jaros’ existing deal was expiring at the end of the current campaign, but now the Czech stopper will extend his time on Merseyside according to reports in his homeland.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old has previously had loan spells<\/a> at St Patrick’s Athletic in Ireland, Notts County, Stockport County and Austrian side Sturm Graz, with whom he won the league and cup double last season.<\/p>\n

He was thrown in at the deep end for his Liverpool<\/a> debut this season, coming on as a 79th minute replacement for Alisson<\/a> in the 1-0 win at Crystal Palace<\/a> in October, when Caoimhin Kelleher<\/a> was ill.<\/p>\n

Jaros made a late save from Eberechi Eze to preserve Liverpool’s three points, and Slot has used the example of the Czech international – who was in his country’s squad for Euro 2024 – as a symbol for everyone playing their part for the soon-to-be Premier League<\/a> champions.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the nervy 2-1 win over Wolves<\/a> in February, Slot said<\/a>: “I think it is [being described as nervy] because we are coming towards the end of season, and not because of us but because of what people make of it.<\/p>\n

“We’ve played more games away from home where we have won by one goal. I remember Palace away when Jaros had to make a big save. We didn’t need the big save against Wolves but people are talking about nerves.”<\/p>\n

Jaros made his first and so far only start for Liverpool in the 3-2 Carabao Cup win over Brighton<\/a> in October, when he made a stunning save from Simon Adingra<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He has effectively become the third member of Liverpool’s squad to finalise his future in the past few days, with Mohamed Salah<\/a> sealing his new contract last Friday and Virgil van Dijk’s new deal set to be announced this week. Trent Alexander-Arnold<\/a> is still widely expected to join Real Madrid<\/a> on a free transfer.<\/p>\n

Liverpool’s goalkeeping department is set for a shake-up this summer with the arrival of Georgia No.1 Giorgi Mamardashvili, who signed from Valencia at the start of the season and was loaned back, and the potential departure of Kelleher for more game time elsewhere.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen whether or not Jaros stays on as third, or potentially second, choice next season, or if another loan move is agreed for him.<\/p>\n
