Spencer food store in High Road, Leytonstone welcomed its first customers on Thursday (July 17).\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  More than 50 new staff members &#8211; plus the M&amp;S mascot Percy Pig &#8211; gathered outside the foodhall at 9am to make the launch official\u00a0with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   alt=\"The store is market style\" style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>The store is market style (Image: M&amp;S)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Photos taken inside show the market style of the store, with open-plan sections such as the flower shop and bakery.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>READ MORE:<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.guardian-series.co.uk\/news\/25310833.bespoke-cake-maker-school-feature-latest-food-hygiene-ratings\/?rel=cl_lsa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bespoke cake maker and school feature in latest food hygiene ratings<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   alt=\"The dedicated flower shop\" style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>The dedicated flower shop (Image: M&amp;S)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Alongside the bakery is a coffee counter, offering a range of hot drinks, as well as iced mochas and lattes.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Elsewhere in the new M&amp;S, there is a dedicated aisle for wine and chilled drinks, and a fruit and veg section stocking seasonal produce.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   alt=\"The bakery and coffee counter\" style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>The bakery and coffee counter (Image: M&amp;S)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The store is one of 12 new M&amp;S Foodhalls opening across the UK this financial year as part of the retailer\u2019s \u00a3300 million store rotation programme.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Store manager at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romfordrecorder.co.uk\/news\/25321844.m-s-foodhall-leytonstone-high-road-opens\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">M&amp;S Leytonstone<\/a> Chelsea Themistokleous, who leads the 67-strong\u00a0team, said the welcome from the community so far has been &#8220;brilliant&#8221;.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   alt=\"The wine and chilled drinks aisle\" style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>The wine and chilled drinks aisle (Image: M&amp;S)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She previously\u00a0said: &#8220;It\u2019s been fantastic to have so many new joiners in the team and we cannot wait to start serving the local community here \u2013 the welcome has been brilliant.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.guardian-series.co.uk\/news\/25300680.m-s-leytonstone-store-opening-date-time-confirmed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new Leytonstone location<\/a>\u00a0arrives just as more than 450 new summer products are launching in stores.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Cllr Ahsan Khan, deputy leader and cabinet member for housing and regeneration at Waltham Forest Council, said: &#8220;Residents of Leytonstone will be delighted to see their brand-new M&amp;S store open its doors.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;We\u2019re working hard with businesses like M&amp;S to bring more shopping choices for local people alongside new employment and professional development opportunities to help them thrive.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;This is a huge show of confidence in Leytonstone and the local community, and we\u2019re very excited to be helping make it such a great place to live.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A new 12,000 sq ft Marks &amp;
