The French President is said to have been told by some EU leaders to treat the issues separately amid the ongoing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/ukraine\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ukraine<\/a> war.<\/p>\n<p>The Labour Government is aiming to strike a defence pact with Brussels as part of Sir <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/keir-starmer\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Keir Starmer<\/a>&#8216;s wider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/brexit\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brexit<\/a> reset.
