A body has been found in the search<\/a> for a man reported missing from West Lothian nearly a week ago.<\/p>\n

The body of a man was discovered by police<\/a> at Almond Valley Bridge in Livingston at around 2.40pm on Friday.<\/p>\n

Identificiation is yet to take place but the family of Alan Niven, who was<\/a> last seen on July 12, have been informed. Cops are currently treating the death as unexplained.<\/p>\n

The 54-year-old was last seen<\/a> in Tweed Drive, in the Craigshill area of Livingston, in the early hours of Saturday.<\/p>\n

A wide-scale search effort was launched after he was reported missing and officers became increasingly concerned<\/a> for his welfare.<\/p>\n

One possible sighting was later reported, after a man wearing a blue t-shirt, dark trousers and carrying a white bag was seen in Tweed Drive on Sunday morning but sadly it was not<\/a> Alan.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the Force<\/a> said: “Around 2.40pm on Friday, 18 July, 2025, the body of a man was found in the area of Almond Valley Bridge, Livingston.<\/p>\n

“Formal identification is yet to take place, however the family<\/a> of Alan Niven, who was reported missing from Livingston on Monday, 14 July, 2025, has been informed.<\/p>\n

“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing<\/a>.
