Filming is underway on showrunner Brad Caleb Kane\u2019s \u201cCrystal Lake,\u201d<\/strong> the upcoming\u00a0Friday the 13th\u00a0television series from\u00a0Peacock\u00a0and\u00a0A24\u00a0that will serve as an expanded prequel to the legendary slasher franchise. And the new Jason Voorhees has boarded the project.<\/p>\n

\u201cChucky<\/a>\u201d actor Callum Vinson<\/strong> has joined the series as young Jason Voorhees, Deadline<\/a> reports today.<\/p>\n

Vinson, who recently starred as Henry Collins in \u201cChucky\u201d season three, is billed as a recurring guest star, as this new project focuses on Jason\u2019s mother, Pamela Voorhees. The series\u2019 version of Pamela Voorhees is \u201cbelieved to be a mother who had given up a singing career to raise a special needs child and takes a dark turn when she loses her son.\u201d<\/p>\n

Linda Cardellini\u00a0<\/strong>stars in \u201cCrystal Lake\u201d as Mrs. Voorhees, who was of course the killer in the original\u00a0Friday the 13th\u00a0(1980). She\u2019s joined by\u00a0William Catlett<\/strong>\u00a0(Abigail),\u00a0Cameron Scoggins<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cNashville\u201d),\u00a0Devin Kessler<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cGodfather of Harlem\u201d), and\u00a0Gwendolyn Sundstrom<\/strong>. Scoggins will play Dorf, the police officer portrayed by\u00a0Ron Millkie in the original classic!<\/p>\n

Nick Cordileone\u00a0<\/strong>(Warrior),\u00a0Joy Suprano\u00a0<\/strong>(Fleishman is in Trouble, Best Foot Forward),\u00a0Danielle Kotch<\/strong>\u00a0(Director\u2019s Cut),\u00a0and\u00a0Phoenix Parnevik<\/strong>\u00a0(Bel-Air, Don\u2019t Tell Mom The Babysitter Is Dead) have also joined the cast.<\/p>\n

Cordileone will play \u201cCrazy\u201d Ralph, Joy Suprano as Rita, Kotch as Claudette, and Parnevik as Barry.<\/p>\n

Fans of the original will recognize those names. The character Barry Jackson (Willie Adams<\/strong>) appeared in the original Friday the 13th film as a camp counselor and, famously, Pamela\u2019s first victim. His girlfriend, Claudette Hayes (Debra S. Hayes<\/strong>), also a camp counselor, was Pamela\u2019s second victim.<\/p>\n

The eight-episode series is set to be directed by\u00a0Michael Lennox<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cDerry Girls\u201d),\u00a0Celine Held<\/strong>\u00a0&\u00a0Logan George<\/strong>\u00a0(Caddo Lake), and\u00a0Quyen Tran<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cThe Pitt\u201d).<\/p>\n

The series will notably bring the\u00a0Friday the 13th\u00a0franchise back to life after 16 years of Jason Voorhees lying dormant at the bottom of the lake due to messy legal issues over the rights.<\/p>\n

Jason Voorhees, created by Victor Miller, has been played by multiple actors, including Ari Lehman, who brought the character to life in the original film. Additional actors include Warrington Gillette, Steve Dash, Richard Brooker, Ted White, Tom Morga, C.J. Graham, Kane Hodder, Ken Kirzinger and Derek Mears.<\/p>\n

Vinson marks the newest, and one of the youngest, to play the horror icon. Stay tuned.<\/p>\n
