All eyes are on Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan Markle<\/a> as speculation swirls<\/a> over a possible return<\/a> to the U.K.. Still, insiders say the couple has no plans to leave their California home anytime soon. A new report in People<\/a> claims the couple has no plans to move back to the U.K<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This comes after growing speculation fueled by a meeting between the Duke of Sussex\u2019s team and a senior member of King Charles\u2019 staff.<\/p>\n

A source close to the couple told People<\/a> that Harry and Meghan are \u201cvery happy living in and raising their family in California\u201d and currently have no plans to leave. The couple, who relocated to the U.S. in 2020 after stepping back from their royal duties, remains rooted in their Montecito home, where they\u2019ve embraced a quiet, community-oriented lifestyle.<\/p>\n

Why Harry\u2019s Meeting With the Palace Was a \u201cGood First Step\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rumors of a possible return gained traction following a July 9 meeting between Harry\u2019s chief of staff, Meredith Maines, U.K. spokesperson Liam Maguire, and the King\u2019s communications secretary, Tobyn Andreae.<\/p>\n

Insiders saw the sit-down as a hopeful gesture to reopen lines of communication between Harry and his father, King Charles. \u201cIt was a good first step,\u201d a source informed People<\/a>. \u201cIt is always better to be talking.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, the meeting doesn\u2019t signal any plans for relocation. While Harry is expected to continue visiting the U.K. for his charitable work and patronages, the family has no intention of leaving California.<\/p>\n

Meghan-Harry\u2019s Life in Montecito<\/strong><\/p>\n

After their 2018 wedding, the couple lived at Kensington Palace\u2019s Nottingham Cottage. It later moved to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor before relocating to the U.S. They were asked to vacate Frogmore in 2020. Now raising Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in Meghan\u2019s home state, the couple has spoken warmly about life in Montecito.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a dream,\u201d Meghan shared with People<\/a> earlier this year while discussing playdates and school drop-offs. \u201cBut I also know that being part of a community means you put effort into it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple even hosted a winter break camp for other local families, complete with obstacle courses and face painting.<\/p>\n

Prince Harry Misses the U.K.\u2014But Doesn\u2019t Feel Safe Returning<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite embracing life in the U.S., Harry has been candid about the complicated emotions he feels about his homeland. In a legal effort to reinstate his state-funded U.K. security, he said he \u201cdoes not feel safe\u201d bringing his family back. After recently losing that appeal, he told the BBC<\/a>, \u201cI can\u2019t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added<\/a>, \u201cI miss the U.K., I miss parts of the U.K., of course I do. I think that it\u2019s really quite sad that I won\u2019t be able to show my children my homeland.\u201d<\/p>\n

While speaking with Good Morning America <\/a>in 2024, Harry shared that he\u2019s \u201cconsidered\u201d becoming a U.S. citizen, though it\u2019s \u201cnot a high priority.\u201d When asked how he\u2019s enjoying life in America, the Duke replied, \u201cIt\u2019s amazing. I love every single day.\u201d<\/p>\n
