When Stephen Colbert mocked Kate Middleton over Prince William’s ‘affair’<\/p>\n

Stephen Colbert’s fans were taken aback when he suddenly announced that CBC has decided to end his late night show.<\/p>\n

As his fans expressed disappointment over the broadcaster’s decision, supporters of the British royal family’s were reminded of the anchor’s\u00a0 insensitive remarks about Kate Middleton and his subsequent apology.<\/p>\n

“The Late Show\u201d host\u00a0 had expressed remorse over jokes he made about Kate Middleton before the Princess of Wales disclosed her cancer diagnosis.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In an episode, Colbert humorously speculated that her prolonged absence from public life was tied to rumors of a husband\u2019s affair, a rumor\u00a0 linking Prince\u202fWilliam and aristocrat Rose Hanbury.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That segment \u201cupset some people,\u201d he said during a follow\u2011up broadcast <\/p>\n

Colbert told his audience he aims to avoid making light of tragedy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a standard \u2026 I do not make light of somebody else\u2019s tragedy,\u201d he said, offering heartfelt wishes for Middleton\u2019s \u201cswift and thorough\u201d recovery<\/p>\n
