Securing Boubacar Kamara\u2019s future with a new contract could be Aston Villa\u2019s<\/a> smartest piece of business this summer.<\/p>\n

The club is now increasingly confident that the French midfielder will sign fresh terms<\/a>, as first reported by The Athletic.<\/a><\/p>\n

Villa<\/a> began discussions with Kamara in April, as he approached the final two years of his current deal.<\/p>\n

With less than 24 months remaining, the club is determined to secure his long-term future – and that wish could soon be granted.<\/p>\n

There are several areas where Villa needs to strengthen this summer following the departures of Axel Disasi, Marcus Rashford, and Marco Asensio, who have returned to their parent clubs.<\/p>\n

A significant is still on the cards – possibly involving Emi Mart\u00ednez or Jacob Ramsey – as the club works to reduce its wage bill in line with an agreement made with UEFA for this summer and next.<\/p>\n

Villa\u2019s early focus in the transfer window has been offloading fringe players. Kosta Nedeljkovi\u0107, Kaine Kesler-Hayden, and Enzo Barrenechea have already moved on, with Louie Barry expected to follow shortly.<\/p>\n

Emi Buend\u00eda, \u00c1lex Moreno, and Leander Dendoncker are also available for transfer, while Leon Bailey could depart as well.<\/p>\n

Returning to Kamara: tying him down to a new deal would be a major boost heading into the new season and would underscore that Villa\u2019s ambitious project remains firmly on course.<\/p>\n

Without Champions League football, Kamara had questioned his future. However, a breakthrough in talks is now expected.<\/p>\n

Villa will have two routes back into UEFA\u2019s elite competition next season – through the Premier League or by winning the Europa League.<\/p>\n

A huge season awaits for Villa, who need to return to the Champions League to continue to retain their top players and add similar quality in the transfer window.<\/p>\n
