Even Brazilian club Santos had eyes on Windass.

After a prolific season at Hillsborough, where he finished as Sheffield Wednesday’s top scorer, it was hoped that he would either stay at the club or alternatively be sold for a decent fee to then be reinvested into the squad.

However, the situation that Dejphon Chansiri has overseen has led to them losing their top scorer for nothing. Amid the clear intent of selling the key assets in the squad, he left one of the most valuable players with the option to walk away scot-free.

No one can blame Windass, as well as Michael Smith, for making such a decision, but unfortunately, it further emphasises the issues at stake at the club.

Josh Windass’ departure at Sheffield Wednesday has been confirmed, and less than a day later, he has already…

[8817
748,393,4884,1620,21069,16,15
0":"post-273877","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-sheffield","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-sheffield","12":"tag-sheffield-wednesday","13":"tag-uk","14":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
