{"id":273963,"date":"2025-07-19T05:53:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-19T05:53:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/273963\/"},"modified":"2025-07-19T05:53:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-19T05:53:11","slug":"estherene-house-care-home-in-lowestoft-requires-improvement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/273963\/","title":{"rendered":"Estherene House care home in Lowestoft requires improvement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Estherene House\u00a0was visited three times by inspectors from healthcare regulator\u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lowestoftjournal.co.uk\/topics\/care-quality-commission-cqc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Care Quality Commission (CQC)<\/a> in April and May.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The residential\u00a0care home on the corner of Apple Tree Close and Kirkley Park Road in Kirkley, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lowestoftjournal.co.uk\/local-news\/lowestoft-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lowestoft<\/a> &#8211; which is\u00a0provided and run by\u00a0QH (Rosewood) Limited &#8211; was rated as requires improvement\u00a0overall.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It was previously rated as good\u00a0during its last CQC inspection in 2021.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The latest CQC report\u00a0rated\u00a0Estherene House as requires improvement\u00a0in three\u00a0of five\u00a0categories-\u00a0safe, caring and well-led categories\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The home received a good\u00a0rating in two other areas.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The watchdog had also\u00a0issued a &#8220;Warning notice on QH (Rosewood) Limited&#8221; on\u00a0May 23, for &#8220;failing to meet Regulation 18 relating to staffing at Estherene House&#8221;.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The CQC report said: &#8220;This assessment was prompted in part due to concerns raised around the quality of care people received, staff conduct, and staffing levels.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lowestoftjournal.co.uk\/news\/25143991.expansion-bid-estherene-house-care-home-lowestoft\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the residential care home<\/a> accommodates\u00a036 residents in 34 rooms, at the time of the CQC assessment &#8220;35 older people were living at the home, some of whom were living with dementia,&#8221; according to the report.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It added: &#8220;We identified three\u00a0breaches of regulation relating to receiving safe care and treatment, staffing\u00a0and governance of the service.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Governance processes required improvement as audits had not always identified the concerns we found.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Staffing levels were not always consistent, and improvement was needed to ensure people were always safe.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;The provider did not always have guidance in place for staff to monitor and support people with identified risks.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  With the provider being asked for an action plan in response to the concerns found, the report added: &#8220;The registered manager and provider were responsive to our findings and promptly implemented an action plan to begin making the necessary improvements.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Last month,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lowestoftjournal.co.uk\/news\/25296179.estherene-house-care-home-lowestoft-set-expansion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Estherene House was granted permission<\/a> to expand the home with the creation of eight new bedrooms after plans were approved by East Suffolk Council.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Estherene House has been contacted for comment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Estherene House\u00a0was visited three times by inspectors from healthcare regulator\u00a0the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in April and May.&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":273964,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4316],"tags":[105,4348,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-273963","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-healthcare","8":"tag-health","9":"tag-healthcare","10":"tag-uk","11":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/114878349686213062","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/273963","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=273963"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/273963\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/273964"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=273963"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=273963"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=273963"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
