Sheffield Wednesday are set to lose talented young forward Caelen-Kole Cadamarteri to Manchester City for \u00a31.5 million. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Wednesday’s<\/a> summer has felt like one calamity after another, with a farcical situation<\/a> having unfolded regarding the future of head coach Danny Rohl, a three-window transfer embargo<\/a> having been put in place over the late payment of wages to players, staff, and of monies due to HMRC, and takeover talks which are rumoured to be stalling<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The club had serious issues paying wages at the end of June, with six players<\/a> invoking their right to leave the club.<\/p>\n

Forwards Michael Smith and Josh Windass – their two top scorers last season – have left the club<\/a>, and now one of their attacking prospects for the future also looks set to be leaving the club.<\/p>\n

Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> will be losing the talented young striker Caelen-Kole Cadmarteri to Manchester City for \u00a31.5 million, in a deal which will give the club a much-needed injection of cash, but at the cost of the loss of an extremely talented young player.<\/p>\n

That’s according to a new report from The Star<\/a> on Friday evening, which states<\/a> that the 15-year-old forward – and the son of former Everton striker Danny – has now completed his medical and that all terms have been agreed over his move to the Cityzens.<\/p>\n

It’s believed<\/a> that the deal has now been finalised, and the highly-rated youngster has now completed his move to the Premier League giants.<\/p>\n

Cadamarteri ended the 2024-25 season as the top goalscorer<\/a> in the U18 Professional Development League with 24 goals as his team finished in second place in the Northern division behind Burnley.<\/p>\n\n

The fact that a 15-year-old achieving this in an under-18 league should have turned City’s heads is no surprise whatsoever.<\/p>\n

Cadamarteri sale will relieve a little financial pressure on Sheffield Wednesday<\/strong><\/p>\n

The deal will bring money to Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>, and Wednesday were previously reported to have reached an agreement which pays them the majority of the fee up front<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The vast majority of transfer fees are paid in instalments, so under normal circumstances the full amount would not be landing in Wednesday’s bank account any time soon.<\/p>\n

But with Wednesday<\/a> being in the state they’re in and Manchester City being one of the richest football clubs on the planet, a deal was reported<\/a> to have been agreed by which \u00a31 million of the fee would be paid upfront, and this will go some way towards easing Wednesday’s financial pressures at the end of July.<\/p>\n

Such is the pull of Manchester City and such was Cadamarteri’s form last season that his departure was probably always inevitable, and any money through the door will be gratefully received by a club that has spent the summer lurching from crisis to crisis.<\/p>\n

Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> are believed<\/a> to have now paid the majority – if not all – of the unpaid wages owed to players and staff, but months go by very quickly, and it’s already less than two weeks before they fall due again.<\/p>\n

With takeover talks having reportedly hit an impasse<\/a>, the club’s problems are unlikely to ease as a result of this sale, though an extra million pounds won’t do any harm.<\/p>\n

It’s just a shame that from Wednesday’s perspective, it’s come at the cost of the loss of an extremely hot young prospect indeed.<\/p>\n
