Northern has announced cancellations to rail services between Buxton and Manchester Piccadilly<\/p>\n

A train operator is warning of ‘severe disruption’ along major railway lines in and out of Manchester city centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Northern has announced cancellations to rail services between Buxton and Manchester Piccadilly this morning (July 19).<\/p>\n

It comes after a tree has fallen and is blocking the railway lines between Hazel Grove<\/a> and Buxton.<\/p>\n

Trains cancelled so far include the 7.50am route from Manchester Piccadilly to Buxton, the 8.45am journey from Buxton to Piccadilly, and the 9.16am train from Buxton to Piccadilly.<\/p>\n

Disruption is expected to continue this morning as trains running to and from the stations are cancelled, delayed or revised, says Northern.<\/p>\n

Network Rail is aware of the issue and staff are expected on site soon, adds the operator.<\/p>\n

Northern issued this advice: “Manchester Piccadilly – Buxton services will terminate and start back at Hazel Grove.<\/p>\n

“First services affected: 06:20 Manchester Piccadilly – Buxton service will terminate at Hazel Grove. 07:45 Buxton – Manchester Piccadilly service will start at Hazel Grove.<\/p>\n

“Road transport: We apologise for the cancellation of this service today. To assist customers to complete their journey, road replacement transport will be provided as follows.<\/p>\n

“A 16 seater bus operated by Premier will depart Hazel Grove at 08:35 calling at stations to Buxton.<\/p>\n

“A 16 seater bus operated by Premier will depart Buxton at 09:00 calling at stations Hazel Grove .<\/p>\n

“Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (excluding service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport. Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes when using road replacement transport.”<\/p>\n

The operator continued: “Please travel on the next Northern train where available or visit www.northernrailway.co.uk\/service-updates for any alternative options and for more information during times of disruption.<\/p>\n
