Jannik Sinner beat two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sinner won the Wimbledon title<\/a> for the first time in his career this year after beating Alcaraz<\/a> in four sets on Centre Court.<\/p>\n

This enabled him to enact revenge from the Roland Garros<\/a> final, where Alcaraz saved Sinner\u2019s three championship points<\/a> before going on to win the title.<\/p>\n

Some former players really wanted Sinner to beat Alcaraz<\/a> due to their recent head-to-head that Mats Wilander<\/a> has now admitted he cannot wrap his head around.<\/p>\n

Not only had Sinner lost the Roland Garros final to Alcaraz, but he had actually lost his last five meetings against his greatest rival.<\/p>\n

After watching Sinner bring that streak to an end in the Wimbledon<\/a> final, former world number one Wilander told L\u2019Equipe<\/a> that he found it hard to believe how much dominance Alcaraz had over the world number one.<\/p>\n

Wilander went on to explain how much Sinner had improved in recent years, and suggested that he expects Alcaraz to do the same in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cWatching this final unfold, it was hard to believe that Carlos Alcaraz had won his last five matches with Jannik Sinner,\u201d said Wilander.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd easy to remember that, yes, Jannik should have won at Roland Garros a month ago. There, as here, he was the better player.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has improved more than Carlos over the last two years combined, which, consequently, also leaves the latter more room for improvement in the future, particularly in terms of choosing his shots better, sometimes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s more the emotional or the motivational part that you have someone who is young, who wins basically everything. You have to be ready, no, if you want to keep up.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner Head-to-head breakdown<\/p>\n

Alcaraz and Sinner had not played a Grand Slam final against each other until this year, but they have now played back-to-back on the biggest stage at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.<\/p>\n

Despite Sinner winning three consecutive hard court majors, it is actually Alcaraz who leads their head-to-head on the surface.<\/p>\n

All of their last four meetings have come in finals, with the next possible tournament for Sinner and Alcaraz to go head-to-head being the Masters 1000 tournament in Toronto.<\/p>\n
