A MUCH-LOVED Scottish bakery has closed its doors for good leaving customers gutted.<\/p>\n

Allan’s Bakery, on Edinburgh<\/a>‘s Restalrig Road, has been forced to shut down as the owner is currently facing “health challenges”.<\/p>\n

Allan Shaw who runs the bakery shared the sad news on social media over the weekend. <\/p>\n

He also thanked his loyal customers for their support over the years.<\/p>\n

The emotional Facebook<\/a> post read: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you who have supported Allan\u2019s Bakery over the years. <\/p>\n

“In particular, I would like to acknowledge the unwavering support during the challenging times that small businesses have faced in recent years.<\/p>\n

“Regrettably, I am currently facing health challenges that have rendered me unable to resume my work until my recovery in a few months, provided that my condition improves.<\/p>\n

“As the sole baker of the business, this situation has necessitated the closure of the shop. <\/p>\n

“My lease agreement with the property will expire at the end of the month, and I am deeply saddened to inform you that Allan\u2019s Bakery will not reopen.”<\/p>\n

Customers flocked to the comments following the news and sent their well wishes to Allan.<\/p>\n

One person wrote: “Gutted to hear this. You have the best pies in town. Get well soon.”<\/p>\n

Another said: “Sorry to hear that your health is not so good and you’ve had to close. I used to travel from Corstorphine to get your bran scones… lovely.”<\/p>\n

By far the best I’ve ever had’ Greggs fan gushes after nabbing \u00a325 of bargain food from the bakery for just \u00a32.50<\/p>\n

A third commented: “I am so sorry to hear this, absolutely love this bakery, so handy and nice to have a small local business in the area.”<\/p>\n

While a fourth wrote: “I\u2019m devastated to hear this mate, I wish you a speedy recovery and really hope you get back to doing what you love and do so well.”<\/p>\n
