EastEnders fans can prepare for yet another iconic return to Albert Square this summer, as Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker<\/a>) will be reunited with his son Anthony as he and Yolande prepare to tie the knot.<\/p>\n

Nicholas Bailey will be reprising his role as Anthony Trueman 11 years after he was last seen on screens. Anthony was last seen in 2014, when his father suffered a stroke. He’s been away ever since, but of course, he receives an invite to his father’s wedding – and it’s an offer he can’t decline.<\/p>\n

Although he’s back for the wedding, Anthony’s stay ends up lasting longer than he expected as he uncovers what has been going on in the Trueman household.<\/a>..<\/p>\n

Anthony’s return is just one of the many legendary returns to Walford under new Executive Producer Ben Wadey’s time in charge. During his first episode last month, EastEnders<\/a> fans were left in shock when Michelle Ryan<\/a> reprised her role as Zoe Slater after two decades.<\/p>\n

The soap has also recently seen the return of Oscar Branning and Julie Bates<\/a>, with Max Branning (Jake Wood<\/a>) set to return this autumn.<\/p>\n

Speaking about his return, Nicholas said: \u201cIt is an unexpected treat to return to EastEnders and I\u2019m full of gratitude to get the opportunity to revisit the character of Anthony. It\u2019s wonderful to work with Rudolph Walker again – he\u2019s such a big part of my journey as an actor and I loved filming my first scenes with him after so long.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m excited to see what the passage of time has done to Anthony and explore his relationship with Patrick at this stage in their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adding to this, Executive Producer Ben Wadey said: “It\u2019s great to welcome Nicholas back to the EastEnders family to reunite Patrick with his son. But Anthony\u2019s plan for a brief return to surprise his father ends up with him staying longer than he expected when he uncovers what has been going on in the Trueman household.\u201d<\/p>\n

During his time on the Square in the early 2000s, Anthony had relations with Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace<\/a>) and her daughter Zoe Slater. Could we be seeing more drama with the Slaters?<\/p>\n

Nicholas has always been interested in returning to the soap, previously stating that he was “ready to go back,” two years after his exit.<\/p>\n

“My wife wants me to get back to work,” he told The Express in 2017. “She’s desperate for me to do [EastEnders] \u2013 so I will.<\/p>\n

“I’ve had two years off and I think that was enough for me. I’m ready to go back if they’ll have me. It’s the best gig on TV.”<\/p>\n

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.<\/strong><\/p>\n
