There is a plethora of young, exciting talent coming through the ranks at Sheffield United, and for many Blades fans, Ryan On\u00e9 tops that list.<\/p>\n

The 2006-born frontman made matchday squads in half of the 2024\/25 Championship games, and scored the equaliser on his Championship debut in the Blades’<\/a> 2-1 win over Bristol City<\/a> at Ashton Gate in November.<\/p>\n\n\n

The freshly turned 19-year-old has a lot of potential at Bramall Lane and has started pre-season brilliantly, scoring a brace in Sheffield United’s<\/a> 6-2 win over National League side York City.<\/p>\n

The exciting Scotsman is doing all he can to put himself in the eyeline of Ruben Selles when it comes to picking his squads for the upcoming Championship campaign, but some Blades fans believe that a loan move away from the club this season would benefit him even more, as it would give On\u00e9 a chance to get valuable, regular minutes under his belt.<\/p>\n

Jimmy, the host of the Blades Ramble podcast<\/a> and FLW’s Sheffield United fan pundit, is of that thinking and believes that the youngster can hit the ground running in League One this season.<\/p>\n

Given Ryan On\u00e9’s incredible showing in their pre-season friendly away at York, many Blades<\/a> fans feel that the 19-year-old could play a decent part in Ruben Selles’ first season in charge at Bramall Lane.<\/p>\n

Jimmy feels a loan move will be more beneficial, but knows that “some Blades fans may disagree” with him.<\/p>\n

“Because of the brief stint in pre-season, scoring two goals in 45 minutes, some may say that he has a part to play in the squad going forward,” he continued.<\/p>\n

“But, for me, On\u00e9 has got to get some minutes under his belt out on loan.<\/p>\n

“There’s a huge talent there, but I don’t think he gets past our current starters.”<\/p>\n

On where he feels the youngster should go, Jimmy didn’t name-drop any clubs, but did say that, “It has to be the right club that plays in the right system and that will look after him and make sure he’s playing.<\/p>\n

“Perhaps a loan with a January recall, because if he starts lighting up League One, which he has the potential to do, then we might want him involved back here in the second half of the season.<\/p>\n

“But he needs minutes desperately to accelerate his development, and I’m not sure if we can offer it at first team level here at the moment.”<\/p>\n

Ryan On\u00e9 would benefit from a League One loan this season<\/p>\n

Sheffield United<\/a> already have a fair number of senior strikers on their books, with Kieffer Moore, Tom Cannon and Tyrese Campbell all set to battle it out for the starting striker position.<\/p>\n

Therefore, it’s likely that, if On\u00e9 was set to feature at all this upcoming season, it would be in a similar way to last season, in sporadic, short spells from the bench.<\/p>\n

On\u00e9 could cause issues in the lower leagues if he were to play regularly, and if he did become available on loan this summer, a multitude of League One sides would be gearing up to form a disorderly queue to snag his short-term services.<\/p>\n

That would put the Scottish U21 international in the best position to challenge for a starting spot in the 2026\/27 campaign. Blades fans can be excited about his development, but may have to wait an extra year to see it come to fruition at Bramall Lane.<\/p>\n
