{"id":276970,"date":"2025-07-20T09:04:21","date_gmt":"2025-07-20T09:04:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/276970\/"},"modified":"2025-07-20T09:04:21","modified_gmt":"2025-07-20T09:04:21","slug":"great-britain-sailgp-team-dominate-on-day-1-of-sailgp-portsmouth-grand-prix-sailweb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/276970\/","title":{"rendered":"Great Britain SailGP team dominate on Day 1 of SailGP Portsmouth Grand Prix \u2013 Sailweb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t    \tBen Ainslie\u2019s Emirates Great Britain SailGP team dominated on Day 1 of the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix | Portsmouth.<\/p>\n<p>A sparkling day on the Solent presenting SailGP racing in perfect conditions, was overshadowed by the collapse of the the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sailweb.co.uk\/2025\/07\/19\/mast-break-rules-out-france-from-portsmouth-sailgp-event\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">France Team\u2019s wingsail<\/a> shortly before the start of the first race.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The British team kicked off their home event in spectacular fashion<\/strong>, with a storming start and clear win in the first race. They went on to top the leaderboard with an impressive performance with finishes of first, second, third, and second in Saturday\u2019s four fleet races.<\/p>\n<p>Emirates GBR lead with 36 pts, second Switzerland with 30 pts and third Bonds Flying Roos AUS tied on 26 pts with New Zealand.
