However, last year she starred alongside a future Beatles star in a quickly forgotten WWII movie that’s still a streaming hit. Ronan features opposite Harris Dickinson (The Iron Claw) in Blitz, the period drama telling the stories of a group of Londoners during the German bombing of the British capital in WWII. Blitz is currently streaming on Apple TV+, and although it’s no longer charting in America, it is in countries such as Belarus, Cyprus, and Belize. Blitz earned scores of 81% from both critics and audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, and it grossed only $1.4 million in theaters during an extremely limited release.

Blitz comes from the mind of Steve McQueen, who both wrote and directed the film. It was McQueen’s first directorial feature since he helmed Widows in 2018 – the R-rated heist thriller starring Viola Davis and Liam Neeson. McQueen’s most famous work came five years before Widows with 12 Years a Slave, the 2013 Best Picture-winning period drama led by Chiwetel Ejiofor. The film was also produced by Brad Pitt, and it’s another McQueen classic that’s currently in the middle of a run of streaming success. McQueen’s most recent work before 12 Years a Slave was Shame, the 2011 psychological thriller starring Michael Fassbender. It’s unclear what McQueen is going to work on next, but fans can rest assured that whatever he sets his sights on is likely going to be a hit.

What Else Is Streaming on Apple TV+ Right Now?

The most popular film on Apple TV+ right now is Guy Ritchie’s Fountain of Youth, the critically panned adventure thriller starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman.
