Oasis fans were seen ‘walking along the motorway’ with cars ‘driving the wrong way’ down the hard shoulder following a fatal incident on the M60<\/a> on Sunday (July 20).<\/p>\n A man died after being ‘hit by a vehicle’ near J20<\/a>, with police, paramedics and fire crews racing to the scene and shutting the motorway in both directions amid investigations.<\/p>\n Oasis fans were issued with a travel warning due to long delays caused by the incident, with diversion routes put in place for those stuck in the closure.<\/p>\n Never miss a story with the MEN’s daily Catch Up newsletter – get it in your inbox by signing up here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Images showed a number of fans, dressed in bucket hats and blue t-shirts, walking along the hard shoulder in a clear attempt to get to the final concert on time in Heaton Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n One post on X read: “Oasis fans are walking on the motorway to get to Heaton Park and climbing over an embankment after motorway closed in both directions.”<\/p>\n Follow our live blog here.<\/a><\/p>\n “Been here for ages,” another person said. “People all over the motorway.”<\/p>\n National Highways confirmed traffic was also stopped on the anti-clockwise carriageway between junctions 23 and 22 due to the incident.<\/p>\n “Anti-clockwise traffic is held J23-J22 due to a large number of pedestrians who’ve left their vehicles and are walking up the hard shoulder,” a statement read.<\/p>\n Join the Manchester Evening News <\/strong>WhatsApp<\/strong> group <\/strong>HERE<\/a><\/p>\n Other motorists claimed that cars were being driven the wrong way and along the hard shoulder in a bid to get out of the large closure, which stretched in both directions between junctions 19 and 21.<\/p>\n “Cars currently trying to drive the wrong way on the hard shoulder following an incident on M60 that we are currently stationary in…..idiots, if any other Emergency vehicles need to attend they won’t get through,” one person shared to X.<\/p>\n Another posted: “A number of cars are currently driving the wrong way down the hard shoulder on the m60 nearly Blackley<\/a> near the scene of an accident.”<\/p>\n Greater Manchester Police<\/a> warned of delays on the motorway after being called to a serious incident near J20 which closed the road.
