A fashion designer<\/a> from Magherafelt <\/a>has been appointed as the new artistic designer of menswear at Dior<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jonathan Anderson<\/a> previously spent 11 years as creative director of the Spanish luxury fashion house Loewe, before stepping down in March.<\/p>\n

Son of former Ireland rugby captain Willie Anderson<\/a>, the 40-year-old famously created the outfit worn by Rihanna during her 2023 Super Bowl half-time show, which was watched by over 118 million people.<\/p>\n

There had been speculation that the 40-year-old would take over the role at Dior after English designer Kim Jones stepped down in January.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Anderson posted a picture of the brand\u2019s label alongside a four-leaf clover on Instagram to confirm the news. <\/p>\n

Fashion outlets also reported that the parent company LMVH CEO Bernard Arnault announced the appointment at a shareholder meeting on the same day. <\/p>\n

He is widely expected to present his debut collection during Paris Fashion Week in June.<\/p>\n

After initially attempting to purse a career in acting, he eventually switched to fashion and studied at the London College of Fashion. <\/p>\n

He started his career in the industry as part of the marketing department at Prada and opened his own successful London-based JW Anderson label in 2008.<\/p>\n

Highly regarded within the industry, Mr Anderson was named Designer of the Year for the second year running at the UK Fashion Awards in December. <\/p>\n

His work as creative director on films including 2022\u2019s Oscar-nominated \u2018Challengers\u2019 also resulted in him being signed by Beverly Hills global talent agency UTA. <\/p>\n
