Two Welsh beaches have been voted among the UK’s best. Tenby North Beach and Llandudno<\/a> West Shore Beach both featured in the top 12 according to a survey of 70,000 people.<\/p>\n

The survey by Travelodge, which described the Llandudno beach \u2014 sixth in the rankings \u2014 as “one of the most beautiful spots in north Wales”, framed by undulating sand dunes and the Great Orme headland. Its placement on the quieter side of the town means it offers a “peaceful retreat from the bustle of the pier and arcade”, the hotel chain says in its list.<\/p>\n

“You can marvel at breathtaking views of Conwy<\/a> Bay and estuary, and even see the Snowdonia (Eryri) mountains on a clear day,” it adds.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s even better at low tide, when you\u2019ll enjoy a much wider stretch of sand to play beach games, explore rockpools, or just sit and watch the boats go by.”<\/p>\n

The second highest-ranking slice of Welsh coast was Tenby North Beach (12th) which won votes for its “rugged cliffs on one side and a pastel-hued town and harbour on the other”.<\/p>\n

The list reads: “It\u2019s so beautiful that it was even named \u2018one of the most photogenic beaches\u2019 in the world, rivalling its more famous counterparts in Bondi and Bali.”<\/p>\n

The top 10 beaches were named as Bournemouth, Bamburgh, Brighton, Scarborough, Blackpool Pleasure, Llandudno West Shore, St Ives, Weymouth, Whitby and Blackpool Sands.<\/p>\n

Half of those surveyed by hotel chain Travelodge said they plan to visit a beach this summer.<\/p>\n

Almost two-thirds of respondents said they enjoy walking along a beach and one in five make sure they buy fish and chips.<\/p>\n
