Showbiz journalist Bev Lyons<\/a> has spent decades writing about everyone from Bieber to Beyonce and now she\u2019s about to release her own single.<\/p>\n Bev, who was invited to sing at Glasgow\u2019s<\/a> Pride in the Barrowland Ballroom over the weekend, can\u2019t wait to show off her self-penned song I\u2019m Leaving You when it is released on Wednesday.<\/p>\n The Glasgow-born writer and broadcaster, who has interviewed stars for the Record for over 20 years, began singing properly during the pandemic<\/a> to entertain friends.<\/p>\n She said: \u201cI\u2019ve always loved performing and I used to sing at family<\/a> parties when I was wee but I couldn\u2019t look at my audience \u2018cause I was too scared.<\/p>\n “In more recent years I messed around in my bedroom<\/a>, writing music on GarageBand.\u201d Although Bev has always \u00adchampioned other stars, she did once perform with one of the UK\u2019s biggest pop names.<\/p>\n She said: \u201cI won a karaoke competition to be one of Boy George\u2019s backing singers at Abbey Road for a rerelease of Karma \u00adChameleon. It was an amazing \u00adexperience<\/a> and I thought that was my 15 minutes of fame.\u201d<\/p>\n Being a showbiz writer soon took over and Bev put her singing dreams<\/a> on hold until lockdown when red carpet events came to an abrupt stop. She said: \u201cI love being able to sing tobigger audiences.<\/p>\n \u201cMy debut single is a pop song about life after love, inspired by songs by Cher, Miley Cyrus<\/a> and Gloria Gaynor. It\u2019s a real upbeat anthem about hope, strength and survival.\u201d<\/p>\n Bev posted a clip of her song on social media and it\u2019s received acclaim from celeb followers including Deacon Blue\u2019s<\/a> Lorraine McIntosh, Bay City Roller Stuart \u201cWoody\u201d Wood, TV host Ross King, River City\u2019s Tom Urie, singers May Miller and Jesse Rae, and St Phoenix stars Alan and Stevie Jukes.<\/p>\n Bev said: \u201cI\u2019m absolutely loving the buzz and excitement just now and to be able to perform it at the iconic Barrowland Ballroom<\/a> was a dream come true.<\/p>\n![\"Bet](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/0_JS375758325.jpg\")
