loading=\"eager\"  \/>1,970 children will start primary school in Bury this year<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">More than nine out of 10 Bury parents will be sending their child to their first choice of primary school come the autumn.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">And 99 per cent have been offered a place for their child at one of their three preferred choice schools.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">That means just 19 children out of a total of 1,970 applications could not be offered a school of preference.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Those youngsters have been offered an alternative school.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/bury\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bury<\/a> council said emails were being sent today (April 16), to all parents who applied online, and letters sent to other applicants.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Coun Lucy Smith, cabinet member for children and young people, said: \u201cIt is great news that so many parents are getting a place for their child at their choice of school.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cParents who are happy with their child\u2019s school are essential in giving their young sons and daughters the best possible start on their formal education path.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">For reception allocations at primary school in Bury for September 2025 the authority received 1,970 applications from Bury residents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">All Bury children have been allocated a school place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">1,866 families received a first preference offers (94.7pc, up from 93.4pc last year).<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Second preference offers were given to 72 children (3.7pc, down from 4.8pc) while 13 youngster were given third preference offers<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Only 19 (0.9pc) applications could not be offered a school of preference.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Just 19 children due to start
