Right now, we’re looking for three new board members to join us as we continue our vision to help shape the future of this vital sector and make Scotland the choice for premium red meat.

The QMS Board brings together people with a shared passion and commitment to our industry, each with their own expertise and perspective. It’s that mix of practical knowledge, strategic thinking and diverse lived experience that helps us make well-rounded decisions for the benefit of levy payers and the wider food system. This includes award-winning farmers, educators, scientists, marketeers, butchers, processors, entrepreneurs, academics and more.

You don’t need to have been on a Board before. What we’re really looking for is people who care deeply about farming, red meat production and Scotland’s rural economy – and who are willing to bring their ideas, experience and energy to the table.

This year, we’ve got three positions available, and we’re specifically looking for people with knowledge or experience in pig or sheep production, audit and risk management, or red meat processing.

It’s a brilliant opportunity to influence the direction of the sector, develop your leadership skills and be part of an organisation that’s doing meaningful, impactful work every day.

The Board meets around six times a year, and while the commitment is real, it’s also manageable for people running farms, working in the industry or juggling other responsibilities. Board members are remunerated for their attendance and commitments and also receive travel and subsistence reimbursement.

Scotland’s red meat industry needs strong voices and fresh perspectives. If that sounds like you, please take a look. Or better yet, join one of our webinars and see what it’s all about.

To help you decide if the role is right for you, we’re running two short, informal webinars where you can hear more about what the Board does, what’s involved in applying and what to expect if you’re successful. You’ll hear directly from current Board members and have a chance to ask questions.

Webinar dates:

I’d strongly encourage anyone who’s even slightly curious to come along — whether you’re ready to apply or just want to explore what’s involved.

Anyone who would like a confidential conversation about the application process is welcome to contact Sarah Millar at smillar@qmscotland.co.uk.

By Kate Rowell, Chair of Quality Meat Scotland As Chair of Quality Meat Scotland (QMS), I’m incredibly proud…

[5009
748,4884,41910,41915,41911,712,41912,41913,41914,16,15
0":"post-279755","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-scotland","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-great-britain","10":"tag-qms","11":"tag-quality-assurance-meat-industry","12":"tag-quality-meat-scotland","13":"tag-scotland","14":"tag-scottish-food","15":"tag-scottish-meat","16":"tag-scottish-red-meat","17":"tag-uk","18":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
