Rangers are reportedly pressing ahead with talks to sign Owen Beck<\/a> from Liverpool \u2013 and while the Reds’ \u00a310m asking price is a problem, it’s believed the Ibrox side are hopeful of a compromise.<\/p>\n

The left-back has been heavily linked with a move to Rangers all summer while Celtic<\/a> held a firm interest in the past although that has subsided since Kieran Tierney’s return to Parkhead.<\/p>\n

Russell Martin is on the hunt for a new player to nail down that position, having stripped Ridvan Yilmaz of his squad number and bombed the Turkish star out of his Champions League squad to face Panathinaikos.<\/p>\n

Jefte is available but right-back Max Aarons has been the favoured starter at left-back throughout pre-season, indicating Martin isn’t convinced by either of his natural left-backs.<\/p>\n

We understand Rangers do view Beck as a live option<\/a> and now Liverpool outlet Dave OCKOP<\/a> claims talks are advancing.<\/p>\n

It’s added that Liverpool<\/a> want around \u00a310m for the 22-year-old but that Rangers are keen to negotiate a ‘compromised’ fee closer to \u00a37m.<\/p>\n

Liverpool’s preferred option is said to be extending Beck’s contact beyond its current expiry date of 2026.<\/p>\n

But it’s claimed Rangers would prefer to purchase him outright and make him the long-term solution to their left-back problems.<\/p>\n

Beck, who previously impressed on loan at Dundee, played 24 times in the Championship for Blackburn last season and has three senior Liverpool appearances to his name.<\/p>\n
