Leeds United outcast this summer, Frank Lampard knows him well"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Coventry City have made a positive start to the summer transfer window, and the signing of a free-to-leave top flight star would only add to that.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/eflanalysis.com\/tag\/coventry-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coventry City<\/a> were defeated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/eflanalysis.com\/tag\/championship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Championship<\/a> play-off semi-finals by eventual winners <a href=\"https:\/\/eflanalysis.com\/tag\/sunderland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sunderland<\/a>, and now Frank Lampard is hard at work in the summer transfer window to go one better next season.<\/p>\n<p>The Sky Blues have completed two signings so far, with <a href=\"https:\/\/eflanalysis.com\/news\/coventry-city-win-race-to-sign-premier-league-ace-for-around-3-5m-ahead-of-southampton-and-middlesbrough\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kaine Kesler-Hayden joining Coventry from Aston Villa<\/a> in a deal worth \u00a33.5m, after his standout campaign on loan at <a href=\"https:\/\/eflanalysis.com\/tag\/preston-north-end\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Preston North End<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>His acquisition came after the Sky Blues signed Spanish full-back Miguel Angel Brau, and recently it has emerged that <a href=\"https:\/\/eflanalysis.com\/news\/coventry-city-are-about-to-sign-a-top-player-who-will-play-for-england-in-the-future\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coventry are set to sign Carl Rushworth<\/a>, with the goalkeeper joining on a season-long loan deal from Brighton.<\/p>\n<p>Now, <a href=\"https:\/\/eflanalysis.com\/tag\/frank-lampard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lampard<\/a> must turn his attention to recruits in forward areas to help boost Coventry\u2019s top-six aspirations, and an out-of-favour Premier League striker who the Chelsea icon knows well would be the perfect signing.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2211399628-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Patrick Bamford during Leeds United FC v Stoke City FC - Sky Bet Championship\" class=\"wp-image-10590\" \/>Photo by Michael Regan\/Getty ImagesCoventry City must sign Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford after Daniel Farke admission<\/p>\n<p>After <a href=\"https:\/\/eflanalysis.com\/news\/sunderland-fans-share-scenes-of-absolute-carnage-following-dramatic-late-daniel-ballard-winner-vs-coventry-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dan Ballard\u2019s late Sunderland goal<\/a> condemned Coventry to another season in the second tier, fears amongst the fanbase will be rife regarding the future of their prized assets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EFL Analysis<\/strong> exclusively revealed earlier this summer, via information from our Chief Football correspondent, Graeme Bailey, that recently relegated duo <a href=\"https:\/\/eflanalysis.com\/transfers\/blow-for-frank-lampard-as-quality-coventry-city-star-could-join-championship-rivals-this-summer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leicester and Ipswich, like Haji Wright<\/a>, and could plot a move for the forward this summer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/eflanalysis.com\/transfers\/coventry-fans-are-gutted-by-the-prospect-of-haji-wright-exit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coventry fans fear losing Wright<\/a> this summer, after the USA international scored 12 goals in just 21 league starts last season.<\/p>\n<p>However, after <a href=\"https:\/\/eflanalysis.com\/news\/major-haji-wright-issue-emerges-for-coventry-city-this-summer-it-could-have-a-huge-knock-on-effect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wright withdrew from the USA\u2019s Gold Cup<\/a> squad last month with injury, there are fears over his fitness as well as his future heading into the 2025\/26 Championship.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, Coventry should target <a href=\"https:\/\/eflanalysis.com\/tag\/leeds-united\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leeds United<\/a> forward Patrick Bamford this summer, who is now free to leave the 2024\/25 Championship title winners ahead of their Premier League campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Via the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/football\/articles\/c3d174dv0y9o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BBC<\/a>, Leeds boss <a href=\"https:\/\/eflanalysis.com\/tag\/daniel-farke\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Farke<\/a> said recently: \u201cI had a really open and honest conversation with Patrick, which was important,<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut he is a player who needs to be the main man. He needs an arm round the shoulder after some difficult seasons.
