Huddersfield Town are plotting to sign Birmingham City midfielder Marc Leonard, having also agreed a \u00a31.2m deal to sign Blues striker Alfie May.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Terriers<\/a> have been extremely busy strengthening Lee Grant’s playing squad this summer.<\/p>\n

As of Monday evening, Town have signed no less than nine new players<\/a> already this summer, with the likes of Ryan Ledson, Lynden Gooch, Sean Roughan and Marcus Harness among those to join the club.<\/p>\n

It looks as though it won’t be long before that tally reaches double figures either, as Football League World exclusively <\/strong>revealed<\/a> on Monday that Huddersfield have agreed a \u00a31.2m deal to sign Birmingham centre-forward Alfie May.<\/p>\n

It’s our understanding<\/a> that the experienced striker is undergoing a medical in West Yorkshire today in order to wrap up the deal, and he may well soon be joined by one of his St Andrew’s comrades.<\/p>\n

As revealed by <\/a>Football Insider<\/a> on Monday afternoon, Huddersfield<\/a> are working on a deal to sign Birmingham<\/a> midfielder, Marc Leonard.<\/p>\n

The report claims<\/a> that the 23-year-old is also a target for a handful of Championship clubs as well as MLS interest too, with Blues said to be willing to let him go this summer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Leonard, a former Scotland youth international, only signed for Birmingham last summer from Brighton & Hove Albion, have graduated from the Seagulls’ academy system.<\/p>\n

That deal was said to have cost Birmingham around \u00a3500k<\/a>, with the Scotsman penning a four-year contract<\/a> at St Andrew’s.<\/p>\n

Leonard could be lost in Birmingham’s midfield talent – Huddersfield can be benefactors of that<\/strong><\/p>\n

Like Huddersfield, Birmingham City have also been hard at work improving their squad this summer, as they prepare to make some noise back at Championship level.<\/p>\n

Brum<\/a> have made numerous eye-catching additions, and they’ve significantly bolstered their central midfield options with the capture of Tommy Doyle from Wolves – which FLW exclusively <\/strong>revealed<\/a> was happening – and Kanya Fujimoto respectively.<\/p>\n

Taylor Gardner-Hickman – who has now joined the club permanently from Bristol City – can also operate in the middle of the park too, whilst Paik Seung-ho and Tomoki Iwata have both proven themselves to be key players for the club too.<\/p>\n\n

As such, despite not having a bad debut season at St Andrew’s by any means last year, Leonard does now look set to potentially get lost in the sheer strength and depth of Chris Davies’ midfield options.<\/p>\n

So, whilst Huddersfield have signed Ledson and have the likes of Ben Wiles, David Kasumu, Herbie Kane and Antony Evans all for company in the middle of the park, the Terriers did lose one of their finest ever servants in Jonathan Hogg this summer.<\/p>\n

Hogg joined the club all the way back in 2013, and made over 400 appearances<\/a> for the Terriers<\/a> before leaving as a free agent following the expiration of his contract<\/a> upon the conclusion of the 24\/25 season.<\/p>\n

Therefore, signing Leonard could only further serve to help the club fill the void he’s left in the heart of their midfield, and has proven himself to be a smart performer at League One level, and should still have plenty of scope to improve significantly in the future too.<\/p>\n
