An ITV newsreader has died at the age of 74 after developing breathing problems. Trevor Green, best known for working on Granada Reports and ITV <\/a>news, passed away “peacefully” on his 74th birthday. His wife announced the news in a post on social media.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Facebook<\/a> via Piccadilly Radio, his wife Joanna wrote: “Trevor slipped away peacefully this morning in the early hours of what is today his 74th Birthday. He developed breathing problems yesterday evening.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve lost my soul mate and feel rather at sea. But thankfully he\u2019s now out of pain and we\u2019ve been blessed with lots of time in recent weeks and months to reminisce and shape his wishes.<\/p>\n

“Sorry we couldn\u2019t fix another visit\u2026Taking quiet me-time out today to reflect on our 44 years together. Will miss him like mad. I’ll let you know plans in due course.”<\/p>\n

Trevor built a successful career in journalism<\/a>, earning recognition through his many years with ITV News<\/a> and, most notably, his role on Granada Reports.<\/p>\n

For nearly 20 years,<\/a> he was a central figure on the regional news programme, becoming a trusted and familiar face to viewers across the North West. Operating from his base in Knutsford, Trevor\u2019s work on Granada Reports made him a respected voice in regional broadcasting.<\/p>\n

But in 2006, after almost two decades on screen, he made the decision to step away from the programme. This marked a new chapter in his professional life, allowing him to devote more time to Vision Impact, the media consultancy he founded.<\/p>\n

Alongside running his own business, he continued working across television and radio. Trevor brought his communication expertise into the public sector, serving as a media relations officer for Cheshire East Council.<\/p>\n

This role allowed him to use his media background in a different capacity as he shaped messaging and public information on behalf of the local authority.<\/p>\n

Chris Moore, who had previously worked with Trevor at Piccadilly Radio also paid tribute to the late star as he labelled him as a ‘gem’. Chris wrote: “Trevor and Jo fought his illness together in a way which I can only describe as humbling. I would not be able to come anywhere close.<\/p>\n

“He was one of the nicest, kindest, sharpest, wittiest, coolest and most professional people I ever had the honour to work, and that\u2019s saying something. His marriage to Jo was something special too. She is a wonderful person who gave him everything for their whole life together.<\/p>\n

“A David Vear signing, he was part of a golden generation in a golden era of radio. Those who knew him will have their own stories and memories.
