For the past couple of years or so, ex-Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi has made a habit of mentioning his new project \u2014 and we may finally be on the cusp of actually seeing it.<\/p>\n

Having left the company in 2022, Kobayashi had worked at Capcom for close to 30 years, overseeing the original Devil May Cry<\/a> and Dragon’s Dogma<\/a> games as a producer. He was also a producer on Resident Evil 4<\/a>, and the Sengoku Basara<\/a> series.<\/p>\n

Just to be clear, Kobayashi is not to be confused with Hideaki Itsuno, who left Capcom a couple of years after Kobayashi, in 2024. He was the director on Devil May Cry, Dragon’s Dogma, and more.<\/p>\n

Anyway, both of them have gone on to head their own development studios, and as the headline suggests, Kobayashi is working on an action RPG. His company, GPTRACK50, is a subsidiary of Chinese tech giant NetEase.<\/p>\n

“While I can\u2019t reveal any details yet, everything is going as planned,” he said, in a new interview with Famitsu (as translated by Automaton<\/a>).<\/p>\n

“In our New-Year\u2019s greeting card for 2025, I said I wanted to announce it by the end of the year, and as a man of my word, I want to keep that promise,” Kobayashi teases.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019ve already entered the second half of the year, but rest assured that our studio is already preparing to make the announcement.”<\/p>\n

So, this is the announcement, but when can expect to be playing this thing (assuming it’s targeting PlayStation platforms to begin with)?<\/p>\n

Well, Kobayashi says that the team’s currently in the process of recording voicework, which suggests that it’s pretty far along.<\/p>\n
