\n The Countess of Brecknock Hospice in Andover was gifted the \u00a31m sum from the estate of the late Leonard Fuller, a private individual whose generosity will help fund vital end-of-life care in the community.\n<\/p>\n
\n On Friday, July 18, a special plaque was unveiled at the hospice to commemorate Mr Fuller\u2019s generosity.\n<\/p>\n
\n In attendance was Mr Fuller\u2019s nephew, James Adams, who presented a large check to the staff at the hospice.\n<\/p>\n
\n Also in attendance was Lorna Cousins, one of the nurses who visited Mr Fuller and looked after him at his home. Alongside her was Sophie Jasper, a senior sister at the hospice, and Robert Goodchild, a lawyer at Warner & Richardson LLP.\n<\/p>\n
\n Clare Scheckter, chair of trustees at the hospice, said: “This extraordinary act of generosity will help to fund principally our community nursing services, from which Leonard Fuller benefited, and will also augment our new Forever Fund, which has been established to assist with securing the future financial stability of the hospice.\n<\/p>\n
\n “It\u2019s a one-off, transformative gift, but it also reminds us that every legacy matters, whatever the size.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Leonard\u2019s kindness and vision will live on in the care we are able to offer to others.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The plaque in honour of Leonard Fuller’s donation (Image: Newsquest) Mr Fuller\u2019s legacy will support the hospice\u2019s community nursing team and contribute to its Forever Fund, aimed at ensuring the organisation\u2019s long-term sustainability.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Fuller\u2019s nephew, James, said: “He never sought the limelight, but Leonard was someone whose work, values, and quiet generosity have left a permanent mark on Andover and its people.\n<\/p>\n
\n “This final gift is exactly in character, a legacy not just of money, but of dignity, dedication, and care for others.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Ms Scheckter praised the hospice team\u2019s commitment, saying: “We are very fortunate to have a dedicated team of excellent clinicians who care tirelessly and compassionately for our 10 inpatients and almost 300 outpatients in the community.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The Hospice at Home nurses combined with the Home Care Team provide exceptional care and unwavering support, delivering high-quality healthcare to individuals and families where they need it most.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The Hospice at Home service works 24\/7, giving patients (and their families) in the community fast access to highly qualified nurse prescribers at any time of the day or night.\n<\/p>\n
